SUNY Oneonta is developing a pool of candidates for Office Assistant 1 roles on campus. Office Assistant 1 is a NYS Classified Civil Service title. As an entry level title, candidates without New York State classified work experience may obtain an Office Assistant 1 role prior to taking a NYS Civil Service exam for the title.

Office Assistants perform a variety of administrative/clerical duties to support the efficient functioning of various departments on campus. Duties include but are not limited to: performing data entry; keyboarding and other document preparation; mail, supply ordering, and inventory functions; answering telephones; completing forms; copying/scanning documents, assisting visitors; and creating or assisting in the preparation of reports.

Hourly Rate (Temporary appointments): $16.85 / hour.

Job Requirements:
A "provisional appointment" means that the appointment will be temporary until the employee takes and passes an appropriate civil service examination. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next Civil Service examination being offered for this title and be reachable on the resulting eligible list in order to be considered for permanent appointment to the position.
Candidates may be required to complete a typing proficiency test to be considered for a position. This test can be given at SUNY Oneonta's Human Resources office.
