About Defacto Untitled
What’s in it for you
- Do things you’ve never done before
- Build the best customer experience for end-users
- Real ownership of role and company About the role We are looking for a senior Data / ML / AI Engineer to help shape and scale Defacto’s core product: real-time underwriting.
Defacto specializes in making credit decisions in seconds, not days. Our models and data systems must reliably decide whether to lend up to €200k in real time, directly embedded within our partners’ products. This puts data mastery at the heart of our value proposition: traceability, latency, auditability, and reliability are not “nice to have” — they are everything.
In this role, you will work closely with Marco (CTO) & Matteo in the Risk team, at the intersection of product, data, and decisioning. Your responsibility is not only to build models, but to design end-to-end decision flows that can be explained, monitored, audited, and trusted — by partners, regulators, and internal teams.
How you’ll make an impact ? A recurring question that we got is “what does a successful onboarding looks like ?”
In a nutshell, here are our expectations
- 1st month : get familiarize with Lending. Almost no-one has ever worked in a lending company. Our challenge is quite unique because growth can kill you and we’re a regulated entity. You will still contribute to the first tasks
- 2nd/3rd month : ramp-up to an ongoing project in binom
- 3-6month : be the tech lead of a new project What we’d love to see
- Business first mindset : you’re here to solve business need, not tech need
- Over 5 years of experience in Data Management (pipeline, model hosting, ETL, …)
- Over 7 years of experience with Python
- Experience building 3rd party API and its maintenance for data enrichment
- Good mix of first principle thinking and operational excellence
- Any experience with risk assessment (insurance, finance, banking, credit, ...) is big plus
