Overview

Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is currently seeking Journeyman Carpenter to support the North Texas VA Medical Center located at 4500 S. Lancaster Rd, Dallas, TX 75216. Shift schedule will typically be Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. If you accept employment with Ansible, you must also acknowledge that any assigned schedule is subject to change at the direction of either Ansible or its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Alter, install, and repair walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, doors, and windows throughout the hospital campus.

  • Construct drywall partitions and temporary wood structures.

  • Install windows and doors, including mortising doors and frames for lock hardware.

  • Install acoustical ceilings and floor coverings, including carpet.

  • Build forms for concrete sidewalks, curbs, and steps.

  • Work with Formica, laminate coverings, and paneling.

  • Build furniture such as tables, cabinets, and work benches.

  • Construct and install bulletin boards, blackboards, cabinets, and shelving.

  • Check in daily with the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for assignments and provide progress updates.

  • Submit daily reports detailing work performed, maintenance completed, parts replaced, items needing follow-up, and personnel performing the work.

  • Complete daily timecards and support monthly reporting requirements

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this job

  • OSHA Certification is required.

  • Must attend VA safety and orientation training before beginning work.

  • Must wear required PPE, including:

  • OSHA-approved steel-toe boots

  • Long pants and long-sleeve shirts (arc-rated or natural fiber)

  • Hearing protection

  • Eye protection

  • Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform as a Carpenter.

  • Must be able to work full-time, 80 hours per pay period.

  • Must pass VA background check and wear VA‑issued identification badge

All candidates must be able to:

  • Sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, twist, and reach above shoulders during the work shift

  • Lift up to 50 lbs from floor to waist

  • Lift up to 20 lbs

  • Carry up to 40 lbs a reasonable distance

  • Push/pull with 30 lbs of force
