Job Description
Forage: Duties will include, but are not limited to: Land preparation, operating tillage equipment, cutting equipment. Take the hay bales to the storage barns/barns of farms that purchase the hay.
Help with all aspects of poultry production, including the care and handling of chickens. Monitor their health and growth throughout the production cycle. Collect eggs from the ground. Maintain a clean and safe working environment in poultry houses and surrounding areas. Sanitize, repair, and maintain equipment and tools used in daily operations. Monitor and record data related to feed, water, temperature, and overall bird health. Perform general farm duties, including cleaning, disinfecting, and upkeep of facilities. Operate various agricultural machinery and equipment such as tractors, spreaders, loaders, and utility vehicles to transport waste materials. Follow rules and safety guidelines for waste management. Follow biosecurity protocols and safety standards at all times.
Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner that gets along well with co-workers and management. Follow biosecurity protocols by not having birds in your home and not visiting other farms. Pack eggs into assigned boxes or trays and work assigned hours daily following Supervisor's orders that are guided by daily production demands. Observe the eggs moving on the conveyor, placing unusable eggs in the paper cartons and boxes assigned to disposable eggs. Ensure proper egg trays with proper printing on the trays. Make sure date codes on trays are legible, correct and facing the correct direction when egg carts are full. Place damaged eggs in cartons when cartons are full place them in boxes. Place full boxes of damaged eggs and full cart of good eggs in the appropriate assigned area keep your work area clean, sanitary, safe and productive. This involves cleaning up any egg spills on the floor daily and properly disposing of waste in the trash daily as needed
Alternative work: General farm maintenance and other duties as required in the farming operation maintenance. Includes, but not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing land for planting, dropping sticks in field, maintenance of tool & equipment & other work as directly related to the crop activities for which the worker is hired. Also includes fixing and the clearing and painting of fence/barns. Such work will be offered when climate or crop conditions preclude working in the primary activities listed.
General Conditions: If work is available beyond normal workdays, employer may offer, but not require, worker an opportunity to work additional hours. Workers will report to work at designated time and place as directed by assigned employer each day. workers may be requested to ten (10) hours per day depending on conditions in fields and the maturity of the crops. Also, workers may be requested to work on federal holidays and their Sabbath but will not be required. Workers may volunteer to work additional hours when work is available. Down time: Workers should expect occasional periods of little or no work because of weather, crop or other conditions beyond the employer’s control. These periods can occur any time throughout the season. Worker may be required to work in fields when crops are wet with dew / rain and should have suitable clothing for conditions which include light rain and temperatures ranging from 10 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers should be able to stand, bend, stoop and work for prolonged periods of time and be physically fit to perform duties as assigned. Care must always be exercised with any use of equipment.
