Key Qualifications:

  • PhD in a field related to the scholar’s home discipline with a strong focus on Irish Studies

  • A proven record of public engagement and public outreach, including to an international audience

  • Demonstrable experience with university administration, preferably in a senior administrative role at the departmental or university level, and the leadership skills to run a dynamic scholarly program or department

  • Ability to work with philanthropic communities engaged with higher education, and with an active advisory board

  • Experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students and advising post-graduate research, including serving as a thesis advisor

  • Ability to engage with Irish-language scholarship or community, owing to either facility in the language or support for its role in the broader Irish Studies endeavor

  • A record of securing grants or other funding streams for advancing scholarly work

The initial appointment will be for 3 years with the possibility of renewal to a maximum of 10 years total at the level of global distinguished professor (non-tenure rank), expected to commence September 1, 2027, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
