Job Description

We are seeking a technical leader to support the development, maintenance, and advancement of nuclear engineering software and methodologies used for reactor core simulation and monitoring. This role combines hands-on software and neutronics methods development with team leadership responsibilities. The successful candidate will help guide a team of engineers, support regulatory compliance activities, and contribute to research and development initiatives involving advanced codes and methods. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for neutronics software and methodology development.
  • Support the maintenance, enhancement, and modernization of core simulation and core monitoring tools.
  • Design and develop numerical methods for reactor analysis applications.
  • Provide technical guidance on software architecture, coding approaches, and engineering methodologies.
  • Work with engineers to solve complex technical challenges and support ongoing development efforts.
  • Support research and development projects involving advanced codes and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs teams to evaluate compliance considerations and address emergent technical issues.
  • Review technical work and provide coaching and direction to junior engineers.
  • Coordinate with thermal-hydraulics teams as integration between disciplines increases.
  • Interface with customers to answer technical questions and deliver presentations in virtual and in-person settings.
  • Participate in one-on-one meetings, team development activities, and cross-functional discussions. Compensation Compensation is between $100,000 and $155,000 Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Skills and Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in nuclear engineering, neutronics, core simulator and/or core monitoring methodologies.
  • Experience with software development using Fortran, Python, C/C++, and/or similar languages.
  • Experience supporting software codes, methods, or engineering analysis tools.
  • Experience interacting with regulatory organizations or supporting regulatory compliance activities.
  • Strong communication and technical presentation skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop engineers.
  • Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience specifically with CASMO or similar neutronics analysis codes.
  • Previous technical leadership or supervisory experience.
