This is senior level role in design, analysis, and validation of IGBT based power converters for defense and mission critical applications. The engineer will own converter architecture, digital and analog controls, magnetics design, and full MIL spec compliance across environmental, electrical, and EMI/EMC domains. This position requires deep technical expertise, hands on hardware experience, and the ability to aid cross functional teams through concept, prototype, qualification, and production.

General Responsibilities

  • Creates designs within inter-disciplinary teams to address complex product design and manufacturing challenges

  • Leads feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs

  • Develops testing, engineering analysis, qualification testing, production launch

  • Responsible for failure analysis investigations and engineering evaluations

  • Maintains product documentation (drawings and specifications) and lessons learned; produce design reports, test reports, operating manuals and test procedures

  • Leads a team that includes senior engineers/managers for the purpose of engaging with customers in soliciting product specifications requirements, schedule expectations and budget

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of converter topologies, switching strategies, gate‑drive design, and protection circuits.

  • Hands‑on experience designing and testing magnetics for high‑frequency, high‑current applications.

  • Demonstrated experience with MIL‑spec environmental and EMI/EMC compliance.

  • Proficiency with simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, PSIM, SPICE).

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.

  • Experience with SiC devices, advanced digital control platforms, and DSP/FPGA‑based control.

  • Background in defense, aerospace, or ruggedized industrial power systems.

  • Familiarity with UL, CSA, IEEE, and CE standards in addition to MIL‑spec requirements.

Base Salary Range:

$118,800.00 - $163,350.00
