At EY, we’re all in to shape your future with confidence.
We’ll help you succeed in a globally connected powerhouse of diverse teams and take your career wherever you want it to go. Join EY and help to build a better working world.
Digital assets are moving into the mainstream of financial services, changing how value is created, transferred, safeguarded and reported. As crypto-native companies and established institutions launch and scale blockchain-enabled products, finance leaders need advisers who can connect accounting judgment with product design, technology, regulation and execution.
The opportunity
As a Senior focused on digital assets in FSO FAAS, you will work with crypto-native companies and established financial institutions as they launch and scale blockchain-enabled products. You will support accounting, reporting, controls and finance transformation work across trading, custody, staking, stablecoins, tokenization, lending, mining, decentralized protocols and other digital asset activities. You will help connect contracts, token economics, wallet activity and transaction data to accounting conclusions, reconciliations, controls and financial statement outcomes. The role offers hands-on exposure to technical accounting, audit and IPO readiness, SEC reporting, digital asset subledgers and technology-enabled delivery while helping you build differentiated expertise in a rapidly evolving market.
Your key responsibilities
-
Perform research, analysis and documentation to support digital asset accounting, financial reporting, audit and IPO readiness, accounting policy and SEC reporting engagements.
-
Analyze products and transactions involving trading, custody, staking, stablecoins, tokenization, lending, mining and decentralized protocols, and prepare clear accounting analyses and client-ready materials.
-
Assist with finance transformation activities, including digital asset subledger implementations, close and reporting processes, data integration, reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
-
Document processes and help design and test controls over wallets, custody, transaction processing, valuation, completeness and financial reporting.
-
Analyze wallet, custodian, subledger and general-ledger data; investigate exceptions; and develop well-supported, repeatable workpapers.
-
Own assigned deliverables, coordinate project activities, communicate issues early and collaborate with accounting, assurance, tax, technology, valuation, cybersecurity and regulatory specialists.
-
Support junior teammates and contribute to high-quality delivery while using data analytics, AI-enabled applications and other emerging technologies to improve efficiency.
Skills and attributes for success
You will succeed by combining accounting fundamentals with genuine curiosity about digital assets and the technology supporting them. You should be comfortable learning unfamiliar products, following complex transaction flows, working with imperfect data and asking focused questions when the facts do not align. Strong performers take ownership of details while keeping the broader financial statement and business implications in view.
To qualify for the role you must have
-
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related business discipline and at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in public accounting, financial reporting or accounting advisory.
-
Eligibility for US CPA licensure in the candidate's work state, with progress toward the CPA strongly preferred.
-
Working knowledge of US GAAP and experience researching, documenting and communicating accounting conclusions.
-
Experience preparing or reviewing financial statements, audit workpapers, accounting analyses, reconciliations or internal-control documentation.
-
Strong analytical, writing and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to organize complex facts and data.
-
Ability to manage multiple priorities, own deadlines, raise issues early and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
-
Flexibility and willingness to travel and work beyond standard hours when client needs require it.
Ideally, you'll also have
-
Experience with digital asset companies, blockchain-enabled products or financial institutions developing digital asset capabilities.
-
Familiarity with digital asset products and infrastructure, such as trading, custody, staking, stablecoins, tokenization, mining, lending or exchanges.
-
Exposure to finance transformation, financial reporting, internal controls, audit or capital-markets readiness.
-
Experience working with transaction data, reconciliations, subledgers, financial systems or process and control documentation.
-
Interest in emerging technology, data analytics, AI-enabled applications or automation that can improve accounting and reporting work.
What we look for
We look for curious, dependable professionals who are motivated to build deep digital asset expertise. Strong Seniors connect the accounting to the product and transaction flow, take ownership of the underlying evidence, raise issues early and turn complex information into practical guidance. They are collaborative, comfortable with ambiguity and committed to producing work that is technically sound, well organized and useful to clients.
