Marana Detention Center | Marana, AZ

$28.00 per hour | Full-time

Responsible for the transporting, custody, and discipline of detainees assigned to the facility in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and customer directives.

What you will do

  • Search for contraband and provide security.

  • Operate designated vehicles to transport detainees.

  • Count, feed and supervise detainees in housing, work and other areas as assigned.

  • Provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees during transportation, this will include long periods of sitting

  • Perform specific security functions including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. May also required to climb ladders or stairs in search of contraband.

  • Transfer and transport detainees by walking, driving, or riding in vehicles. Restrain and secure assaultive detainees, as needed.

  • Required to work rotating shifts and all posts assignments.

  • Required to make periodic rounds of assigned area which may include long periods of walking and standing.

  • Read, review and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainees’ health and safety and to the security of the facility. Provide appropriate information to other personnel.

  • Properly prepare and maintain records, forms and reports, as appropriate.

  • Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: commissary, property transportation, recreation, escort/utility, mailroom, laundry, visitation, mobile patrol, central control, security housing units and intake.

What you will need

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • US Citizenship or Lawful US Permanent Resident required.

  • Prior corrections or detention experience is strongly desired. Must successfully complete required pre-service training.

  • A valid CDL driver’s license with a passenger endorsement in the state of Arizona and an acceptable driving record is required. If passenger endorsement is not obtained by the first day of work, the position will be reclassified until obtained.

  • Successful completion of the ICE/ERO bus driver training program, or a comparable approved training program, and all local and state requirements for a commercialdriver’s license also required.
