Electrical Controls Designer: AutoCAD Electrical, Protection & Control Systems | $46.83/hr

Our client, a leading energy and power systems organization, is seeking an Electrical Controls Designer to join their team. As an Electrical Controls Designer, you will be part of the Engineering & Controls Design group supporting Protection & Control, Grid Modernization, and Power Systems project teams. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset that will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Electrical Controls Designer

Location: Saratoga Springs, NY (Hybrid - 4 Days Onsite)

Pay Range: $46.83/hour

What's the Job?

• Design protection and control systems for power transmission and utility-related projects.

• Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams, grounding layouts, and cable schedules using AutoCAD Electrical and MicroStation.

• Develop and maintain Bills of Material (BOMs) and ensure accuracy and consistency of design documentation.

• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and design teams to meet project schedules, technical requirements, and quality standards.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to controls design, documentation processes, and cost optimization.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field) with 2+ years of experience, or Associate's Degree with 5+ years of controls design experience.

• Experience creating electrical and controls drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and design documentation.

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Knowledge of electrical standards and codes such as IEEE, IEC, ANSI, NEC, CSA, or NESC.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional engineering environment.
