Full job description

Job Duties

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Operations Shift Lead to support the operations of our organization. The Operations Shift Lead provides daily guidance on tasks, workflow, and general work direction to custodial employees in maintaining the cleanliness and security of building spaces. The ideal candidate will work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth workflow, efficient processes, and high productivity. This role requires strong communication skills, multitasking ability, and a proactive positive attitude.

*Assist in the coordination and execution of operational activities

*Ensures that operations standards meet the needs of the Operations Department, Cotter Schools as a whole, and establishes custodial guidelines by scheduling work activities, adjusting workloads to compensate for changing priorities and events.

*Support inventory, safety, procurement, and supply organization tasks

*Create and maintain a variety of documentation, as needed and requested.

*Ensures that the quality of custodial services meet established guidelines by inspecting the work of custodial personnel and directing corrective measures when necessary.

*Evaluates custodial supplies and equipment by conducting testing of such items and recommending the appropriateness of their use.

*Ensures that custodial personnel have the equipment and supplies necessary to perform custodial services by issuing supplies, requesting replacement items as needed, and storing the supplies and equipment in a secure storage facility.

*Develops an effective team of custodial personnel by instructing and training custodial employees in the proper methods and use of materials and equipment for safe and efficient work performance, evaluating individual performances to meet established standards, providing required performance evaluations on custodial personnel and making recommendations regarding the retention of new employees.

*Provides operational support for campus events, including basic technical support and arranging custodial services as needed, and has a critical eye to security and safety on campus.

*Perform general administrative duties such as filing, data entry, and document management

*This position requires a shared responsibility of weekend on call availability for staff concerns and emergencies.

*Provides continuity of custodial services under emergency conditions or unique circumstances by performing custodial duties directly related to the emergency conditions or as the situation dictates.

*Performs other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director of Operations in support of the overall Operations department.

*Upholds Cotter’s Employee Handbook rules and policies, OSHA standards, and is responsible for communicating concerns to the Director of Operations and Assistant Director of Operations as needed.

Minimum Education Required

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience Required

*Proven track record of providing technical, logistical, and/or administrative support to an operations department.

*A minimum of 5 years of custodial service experience is preferred

*Proficiency in Google Suite/Doc/Sheets and other business tools

*Demonstrated strong positive work ethic and ability to work independently or as part of a team.

*Demonstrated strong organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills.

*Strong attention to detail, problem-solving and communication skills.

*Wide-ranging knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment and supplies is required

*Possess the ability to lift and carry custodial supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.

*Previous custodial leadership experience is preferred

*Possess a valid driver’s license, operating Cotter vehicles required.
