What is the Senior Accounting Manager role?

As a Senior Accounting Manager, you will assist with our first financial statement audit and build the technical accounting foundation for our next stage of growth. This is a hands-on role for someone who has managed Big 4 financial audits before and can own the process end to end.

We are looking for someone to lead core accounting activities and help maintain accurate, timely financial reporting. This role will oversee key close processes, ensure balance sheet integrity, and support day-to-day accounting operations with a strong command of reconciliations and ledger management. The ideal candidate brings a hands-on approach, sound technical accounting knowledge, and the ability to improve consistency across essential financial workflows.

What you’ll be doing:

Audit leadership

  • Assist the Controller for the external audit, managing auditor requests, PBC lists and timelines independently.

  • Prepare audit schedules, reconciliations and supporting documentation, and resolve auditor questions and findings.

  • Assist in driving readiness for future audits.

Technical accounting

  • Own or assist the Controller in putting together memos for revenue recognition under ASC 606, including contract review, policy memos and judgment areas.

  • Lead accounting for inventory (costing, reserves, cycle counts) and equity (stock-based compensation under ASC 718, cap table reconciliation).

  • Own or research and document positions on new or complex transactions.

Close, reporting and controls

  • Play a Maker and / or Checker role during month-end and quarter-end close, including journal entries, reconciliations and flux analysis.

  • Design, document and test internal controls, and remediate gaps identified during the audit.

  • Improve close processes, policies and systems as the company scales.

Team and coverage

  • Own payroll end to end in Rippling, including payroll processing, reconciliations, journal entries, tax filings and compliance.

  • Provide backup coverage for customer invoicing and build documentation so no function depends on one person.

  • Mentor and review the work of staff accountants, including team members in other locations.

  • Support the Controller on budgeting, ad hoc analysis and special projects.

What you’ll bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA (active).

  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong hands-on responsibility, including 2+ years in a Big 4 public accounting firm.

  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting a first-year or initial financial statement audit.

  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, especially ASC 606 (revenue), ASC 330 (inventory) and ASC 718 (stock compensation).

  • Track record of managing auditor relationships and resolving findings independently.

  • Strong close, reconciliation and internal controls experience.

  • Hands-on experience managing payroll, including multi-state payroll tax compliance.

Preferred

  • Experience at a high-growth or pre-IPO company.

  • Exposure to payroll (Rippling), equity administration platforms (e.g. Carta) and billing systems (Ramp).

  • Experience with ERP implementation.

  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff accountants.
