VP/Director of Finance

Description We are looking for an accomplished finance leader to guide the accounting and finance organization for a Long-term Contract assignment based in Syracuse, New York. This role will provide senior-level oversight across financial operations, performance analysis, and executive reporting while helping the team maintain momentum during a period of leadership coverage. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with business leadership and international stakeholders in a dynamic energy environment, while supporting a collaborative team through evolving priorities.

Responsibilities:

• Direct the day-to-day leadership of finance and accounting activities, ensuring consistent execution across reporting, close processes, and operational finance support.

• Lead the review of financial results, identify meaningful trends and variances, and present clear insights to senior leadership and parent-company stakeholders.

• Oversee month-end and year-end activities, including coordination of audit-related deliverables and maintenance of strong financial controls.

• Guide budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to support informed business decisions and organizational performance.

• Provide leadership and mentoring to team members, particularly employees stepping into recently expanded or redefined responsibilities.

• Partner with internal leaders across the business to strengthen KPI tracking and improve visibility into financial performance.

• Support executive communication with ownership and international partners by preparing accurate, timely, and well-structured financial materials.

• Maintain leadership visibility over the ongoing Workday Financials implementation while helping ensure alignment with finance priorities and reporting needs. Requirements • Proven experience serving in a senior finance leadership role such as VP of Finance, Finance Director, or a comparable position with broad operational oversight.

• Strong background in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close management.

• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, provide coaching, and create stability during periods of organizational change.

• Experience presenting financial results and business insights to executive leadership and external or corporate stakeholders.

• Knowledge of cash flow forecasting and performance measurement in a complex business environment.

• Prior exposure to the energy or natural resources sector is valued, though not required.

• Big Four public accounting experience is preferred, and familiarity with Workday Financials or ERP implementation activity would be a strong advantage.
