You will be the Senior Manufacturing / Process Engineer for the Missile Assembly team at Pike County Operations (PCO) in Troy, Alabama. Our team is responsible for creating high‑tech solutions in advanced missile manufacturing to meet the warfighter needs for the next‑generation battlespace.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Senior Manufacturing / Process Engineer (Missile Assembly) you will be responsible for driving technical excellence on the production shop floor, shaping manufacturing processes, and delivering digital tools that boost productivity.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing engineering data to develop new manufacturing processes and detailed work instructions.

  • Integrating new assets and technologies into the factory.

  • Supporting area‑wide continuous‑improvement initiatives that enhance quality and reduce cost.

  • Investigating root‑cause of quality defects and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions.

  • Troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing process equipment and tooling.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Secret clearance to start.

Basic Qualifications

  • Degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline at the Bachelor’s level and 5+ years production engineering experience or 3+ years production engineering experience and related Master’s degree.

  • Knowledgeable of General Manufacturing Processes with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience Interpreting engineering requirements from product data models, drawings, parts lists and specifications.

  • Experience conducting detailed failure analysis to determine root cause and implement the corrective / preventative actions.

  • Able to demonstrate a high level of mechanical hands-on abilities to perform or assist in missile assembly and test along with repairing nonoperating tools and equipment.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and retain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Lockheed Martin will assist selected candidate with obtaining at least an Interim Secret Clearance prior to starting.

  • Must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background investigation to obtain “employee possessor” approval (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations.

Desired Skills

Working knowledge / experience of manufacturing mechanical assembly processes, electronic testing methods, factory automation equipment, industrial safety processes, technical writing, and teaming.

Ability to (1) read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications / schematics; (2) understand basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) references; (3) create and maintain Computer Aided Design (CAD) models and drawings.

Strong hands-on assembly / disassembly / troubleshooting skills of mechanical, electrical, industrial and/or home equipment and products.

Familiarity with manufacturing software DELMIA Apriso Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Systems Applications & Products (SAP) Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools in a manufacturing environment.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

  • Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

  • For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
