What You’ll Do:

  • Design and modify control systems and physical infrastructure for medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage substations.

  • Prepare the AutoCAD drawings and related engineering records for substation projects and maintenance activities.

  • Conduct site inspections, gather field data, and verify existing conditions to support engineering and construction initiatives.

  • Create maintenance programs and technical recommendations for substation equipment.

  • Analyze equipment condition and identify repair, refurbishment, or replacement priorities.

  • Develop design solutions that address operational needs, equipment performance, and system enhancements.

  • Prepare project scopes, schedules, technical documentation, and design packages.

  • Coordinate activities with contractors, consultants, operations personnel, and other project stakeholders.

  • Source and evaluate replacement equipment, including alternatives for obsolete components.

  • Respond to technical issues and provide engineering support during maintenance and construction operations.

  • Ensure work complies with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Design, Drafting, or a related technical field, or equivalent certification, along with demonstrated competency in electrical design.

  • Six years or more of experience in utility, industrial, engineering design, construction, or related technical environments.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar engineering design software.

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to substations and project locations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, field personnel, and customers.

How You'll Stand Out

  • Experience with an electric utility, substations, utility infrastructure, industrial power environment, or a consulting engineering firm.

  • Experience supporting maintenance, asset management, or capital replacement programs.

  • Knowledge of medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage systems with knowledge of safety practices while working around energized equipment.

  • Familiarity with NESC, NEC, NFPA, ANSI, and IEEE standards.

  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu.

Special Requirements:

  • Hybrid work eligibility is based on business needs.

  • This position is subject to NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation - Critical Infrastructure Protection) standards.

  • This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.

Compensation & Benefits

The expected annual compensation range for this position is $72,000 - $89,000. Compensation offered to the selected candidate will vary depending on relevant knowledge, skills, training, experience, and market conditions.
