This role builds and maintains rigorous tracking frameworks to evaluate cost of goods sold (COGS) optimizations, vendor cost parity, and margin targets. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with hands-on data analytics to unpack complex procurement processes, harmonize disparate data models, and provide line-item P&L visibility for cross-functional stakeholders.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Synergy Measurement & Modeling: Build, maintain, and update financial models to track, report, and validate landed COGS improvements, SKU-level cost parity, and margin enhancement initiatives resulting from M&A activities.
-
Data Reconciliation & Harmonization: Unpack and standardize complex procurement data, vendor rebate structures, and transfer pricing variances across legacy ERP systems to support a single source of truth for synergy tracking.
-
Advanced Analytics & Variance Tracking: Analyze large datasets to execute scenario models, perform root-cause variance analysis on forecast vs. actual performance, and identify margin leakage.
-
Cross-Functional Partnering: Collaborate directly with Sourcing, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and Integration teams to gather data, understand operational drivers, and evaluate financial impacts.
-
Reporting & KPI Dashboarding: Prepare recurring Monthly and Quarterly Business Review (MBR/QBR) materials, KPI scorecards, and executive reporting packages on synergy progression.
-
Analytical Insights: Translate complex financial drivers and multi-layer datasets into clear, structured summary schedules and actionable analysis for finance and operational leaders.
-
Ad-Hoc Assessments: Support targeted financial evaluations, cost benchmarks, and special projects as directed by finance leadership.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
Preferred Experience
-
2–5 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, commercial finance, corporate FP&A, or data analytics.
-
Hands-on experience in COGS analysis, procurement finance, margin variance modeling, or M&A synergy tracking within food distribution, foodservice, wholesale, or retail environments.
-
Demonstrated track record of manipulating and analyzing complex data structures across multiple systems.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS
-
P&L & COGS Acumen: Solid foundation in full P&L mechanics, landed cost components, vendor rebate accounting, and margin analysis in large-scale distribution networks.
-
Advanced Financial Modeling & Data Tools: High proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, financial modeling, data structuring), PowerPoint, and BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, or SQL preferred); comfortable working with large datasets across disparate ERPs.
-
Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to dissect non-standard processes, reconcile data anomalies, and standardize non-transactional financial treatments.
-
Communication & Collaboration: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to summarize complex technical logic into clear financial schedules for cross-functional partners.
-
Proactive Ownership: Detail-oriented self-starter capable of managing multiple analytical priorities and delivering accurate work under tight deadlines.
