As an Exercise Physiologist within Cleveland Clinic's Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program, you will play a key role in helping patients recover from cardiovascular disease and advanced cardiac procedures. Working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, you will develop individualized exercise prescriptions, monitor patient progress, and support recovery through evidence-based rehabilitation. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of Exercise Physiologists, physicians, nurses, and rehabilitation specialists, you will care for a diverse cardiac population while benefiting from strong mentorship, ongoing support, and opportunities to expand your experience across multiple Cleveland Clinic locations.

This position offers a dynamic work environment where patient volumes and daily responsibilities are driven by cardiothoracic surgical activity and rehabilitation needs. Workloads are coordinated collaboratively among team members to ensure exceptional patient care and a balanced approach to coverage. For candidates seeking additional variety and growth opportunities, there may be opportunities to support rehabilitation services at other Cleveland Clinic locations, including Mercy, Main Campus, Marymount, Hillcrest, and South Pointe.

This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work varying hours and days as needed. There will be a potential need to float to all eastside Cleveland Clinic locations. No weekends or holidays required.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide patient testing before and after rehabilitation, including strength, body composition, flexibility, balance and endurance.

  • Provide exercise prescriptions for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen.

  • Update exercise prescriptions according to patient response.

  • Implement concepts of cardiac secondary prevention.

  • Recognize contraindications to exercise and abnormal patient responses to exercise.

  • Appropriately respond to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.

  • Provide exercise information to patients, peers and the community through public speaking and education classes.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in an exercise-related field

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Background in Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation with exposure to both inpatient and outpatient populations

  • Experience conducting exercise stress testing is preferred and considered an additional asset

  • ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist® (ACSM-CEP) credential, or is eligible and will obtain certification within one year of hire - highly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand/walk for long periods of time and ability to help patients stand and walk.

  • Will require some lifting, bending, twisting of upper extremity to help limited patients.

  • Must be able to adapt to different room temperatures in exercise.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $25.50

Maximum hourly: $25.50

A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
