Overview:
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master’s and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities:

Certifies TRIO student eligibility, contributes to TRIO student recruitment and advising, contributes to mini-conference planning and coordination, supports the Director and grant evaluator in data collection and analysis, and assists the Director in report generation.

Counsels and advises all HEOP students in areas of academic, personal, psychological, career and financial. Serves as Academic Advisor to all HEOP students.

Maintains all admission, counseling, and recruitment related records

Liaises with Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Bursars, Career Services, Residential Life and Dean’s office.

Submits monthly HEOP reports to Director and contributes to proposal writing.

Coordinates and implements the recruitment of students and the pre-freshmen HEOP Summer Institute program as well as coordinate the HEOP counseling component.

Identifies, reviews and recruits student applications in order to make recommendations for admission to HEOP . This includes recruiting trips and interviews.

Applies developmental model of counseling, solution-focused approaches to facilitate student success and retention.

Assesses academic needs of students and develops appropriate plans.

Provides holistic counseling services that addresses academic, financial, career and personal issues.

Coordinates and helps implement the Pre-freshmen Summer Institute for HEOP .

Assists in the selection, training, and supervision of all peer advisors/tutors.

Collaborates in the design, coordination, implementation and monitoring of academic intervention programs.

Monitors academic progress as defined by the University, State and Federal guidelines.

Evaluates various elements of HEOP .

Assists in the pre- and post-testing of prospective students.

Continually engages in professional development activities as a contribution to campus community and personal growth.

Participates and assists with university events and serve on university-wide committees/events where HEOP and/or TRIO representation is needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the director.
Education / Experience:
Required:
-
MS/MA Degree in Education, Higher Education Administration Social Work, Counseling, Public Administration

Minimum of 5 years Student Affairs/ Academic Affairs experience, a part of which should be in the area of working with economically/educationally disadvantaged students.
