About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will:

Provide mechanical support for the design, integration, and maintenance of systems on a variety of technologies, ranging from land robotics to unmanned air systems for commercial and military programs in a fast-paced environment. These systems are experimental and cutting-edge technological advancements that are intended to protect the warfighter in various theaters as well as provide civil support to many commercial applications. This individual will have an opportunity to travel, execute experimental military and civil hardware testing, and grow in their role. The position involves supporting lab operations with integration, modifications, assembly and test of ground and air vehicles. Individuals must be willing to support at remote test sites to support and maintain crew members and equipment during field testing. Individuals must be able to work from assembly documentation (i.e. work instructions, drawings etc.), parts lists, and diagrams to assemble, and install a wide variety of components ranging from small bench-top items to large ground vehicle components. May assemble by hand or operate semiautomatic assembly equipment. Operates electronic and mechanical test equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and operate land robotic systems and support equipment

  • Maintain unmanned air vehicles and propulsion systems

  • Troubleshoot small and large engines and general powertrain systems

  • Work with hydraulic based components

  • Assist engineers and designers with prototype development and testing

  • Support offsite testing and demonstrations

  • Actively perform lab maintenance, safety audits, and material tracking

  • Use small and large hand and power tools

  • Identify and document work order instruction or drawing errors,

  • Maintain logbooks and records.

  • Strong ability to interpret drawings and schematics

  • This position does not directly provide leadership or supervision to other employees.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree preferred or related technical training and 2 or more years of experience

  • Basic knowledge of procedures and technical theory in assigned product areas.

  • General mechanical aptitude

  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and theory

  • Able to organize and set up test with minimal guidance

  • Willing to travel up to 25% with international travel possible

  • Basic computer skills such as word processing, spreadsheets, database & technical drawing packages

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Metal fabrication skills is a plus

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level security clearance

  • Must be a team player and able to work with minimum supervision

  • Ability to operate heavy machinery like forklifts and overhead cranes

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

  • Ability to work extended hours to meet program goals

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasking

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions

  • Ability to work on naval vessels

  • Ability to work in tight quarters and confined spaces

  • Working knowledge of military specifications is a plus

$25.58 - $37.88 per hour.
