A Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily routing and dispatch operations of the transportation department. The purpose of this position is to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time transportation services by coordinating drivers, monitors, vehicles, and dispatch personnel. Their main duties include managing daily dispatch activities, addressing service interruptions, supporting drivers and attendants, monitoring route performance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and customer requirements.

Responsibility Profile:

Supervise daily dispatch operations and coordinate transportation services to ensure on-time route performance.

Monitor driver, attendant, and vehicle availability and make adjustments as needed to support service requirements.

Communicate with drivers, attendants, school personnel, parents, and management regarding route issues, delays, and operational concerns.

Respond to accidents, breakdowns, emergencies, and other service disruptions by implementing appropriate contingency plans.

Utilize routing, GPS, and communication systems to monitor route performance and vehicle locations.

Ensure all routes are properly covered and assist with driver assignments, route changes, and substitutions.

Maintain accurate dispatch records, logs, reports, and documentation.

Support driver and attendant training by reinforcing company policies, safety procedures, and operational expectations.

Monitor compliance with DOT, state, local, and company regulations.

Assist with employee coaching, attendance tracking, and performance management of dispatch staff.

Collaborate with operations, safety, maintenance, and customer service departments to ensure seamless service delivery.

Identify operational improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Participate in startup planning, route implementation, and special transportation events as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Two (2) years of transportation, logistics, dispatch, or operations experience.

One (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred.

Strong knowledge of transportation operations, routing, and dispatch procedures.

Proficiency with dispatch software, GPS systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple priorities.

Ability to respond to after-hours operational emergencies when required.

School bus transportation experience preferred.

Valid driver's license required.
