Full job description

Position Summary:

The Kinesiology Department at the State University of New York at Cortland invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor with a specialization in biomechanics. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, research, academic advisement, and service.

Salary Range: $66,000+ depending on experience ( DOE )

Major Responsibilities:

Teaching

  • Provide instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in biomechanics and other courses as assigned

  • Advise/mentor undergraduate and graduate students

Scholarship/Research

  • Implement an active research agenda on biomechanics topics that leads to nationally/internationally refereed publications and presentations

  • Pursue external funding for research

  • Direct graduate/undergraduate research projects

Service

  • Provide service to the department, university, and professional organizations

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Biomechanics or related field. Candidates who are ABD may be considered with expected completion of the doctorate within one year from appointment date.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate experience and evidence of university-level teaching

  • Experience in delivering undergraduate and/or graduate coursework on biomechanics

  • Experience using hardware (e.g., force platforms, motion capture, electromyography) and software (e.g., MATLAB , Qualisys, Visual3D) relevant to biomechanics

  • Credentialed by relevant professional organizations (e.g., NSCA , TPI , etc.)
