Full job description

ABOUT QUINCE Quince is a destination for builders, creators, innovators, and operators who want to come together and challenge the status quo. Our mission is simple: make really high quality essentials for really low prices, fairly and sustainably. We deliver on that mission through a unique manufacturer-to-consumer (M2C) model eliminating the layers of traditional retail that add cost and result in consumers paying more than they need to. We find, build relationships with, and work directly with the manufacturing partners behind some of the world’s finest products. From there, our teams design smart, efficient operational processes and build and deploy proprietary technology, AI, and analytics to help us scale fast. What began with a small assortment of elevated basics has quickly grown into a cross-category brand spanning apparel, accessories, home goods, and more. Today, tens of millions of people across a growing number of countries come – and return – to Quince because they trust us to deliver. OUR CULTURE Quince is a culture built for builders by builders. Our way of working starts with a blank sheet of paper. We question conventional thinking, use technology and data to uncover new opportunities, and move quickly to turn ideas into reality. We aren’t interested in replicating how others do retail. We’re building a better way – at a speed and scale unlike anything that’s been done before.

  • We dream big and chase the hard problems others shy away from. Rejecting long-held assumptions is part of our company's DNA. Where conventional wisdom says you have to choose – soft or durable, speed or rigor, quality or price – we ask why that trade-off has to exist in the first place.
  • Our pace is fast and the bar is high because our customers expect a lot from us and we refuse to let them down. We believe the best results come from challenging ourselves, learning from one another, and building on each other's strengths.
  • Here, responsibility is not determined by role, tenure, or seniority. Every team member - no matter their level - has the opportunity to drive our business and shape our trajectory.

If you’re someone who likes to imagine new possibilities and build better systems rather than plug-in to outdated ones, Quince is the place for you.

THE ROLE Staff UX Designer We’re looking for a Staff UX Designer to play a key role in shaping the next phase of Quince’s digital product experience. This is a senior, hands-on IC role for a designer who can lead complex initiatives from strategy through execution, establish strong UX direction, and raise the quality of product design across the team. You’ll thrive here if you’re energized by a fast-moving startup environment, comfortable navigating ambiguity, and able to balance customer needs, business goals, data, and strong product judgment. A key focus of this role will be helping Quince build with an app-first mentality. You’ll bring deep experience designing native mobile experiences and help us think beyond translating web experiences to smaller screens—identifying opportunities to make our app more intuitive, engaging, and distinctly valuable to customers. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Analytics, and Brand to shape experiences across iOS, Android, and web, spanning the full e-commerce journey from discovery and PDPs to checkout, order management, and post-purchase. This role will be reporting to our Design Director. *Please include portfolio/samples of work to be considered. Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end UX for high-impact, complex product initiatives, from defining the problem and experience strategy through detailed design, testing, iteration, and launch.
  • Help champion an app-first design mentality, identifying how native mobile behaviors, interaction patterns, and capabilities can create better experiences rather than simply adapting web patterns for mobile.
  • Shape core e-commerce experiences across discovery, browsing, PDPs, cart, checkout, account, order management, and post-purchase.
  • Establish strong UX direction for your areas of ownership, connecting individual features and initiatives into a cohesive end-to-end customer experience.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to influence product strategy, prioritization, and roadmaps, bringing a strong customer and UX perspective to decisions early in the process.
  • Work extensively within and help evolve our design system, identifying opportunities to improve and extend components, patterns, and interaction standards across app and web.
  • Partner with designers and engineers on design system implementation, ensuring components and patterns are scalable, flexible, and thoughtfully applied across platforms.
  • Partner with Product and Analytics on experimentation and A/B testing, translating learnings into meaningful improvements to UX, engagement, and conversion.
  • Use research, customer insights, behavioral data, and design judgment to identify opportunities and inform product decisions.
  • Bring strong interaction design thinking to the product, including micro-interactions, motion, transitions, and native app behaviors where they meaningfully improve usability and engagement.
  • Maintain a high level of visual craft and attention to detail, creating experiences that feel polished, intuitive, and consistent with the Quince brand.
  • Provide mentorship and high-quality feedback to other designers, helping raise the team's standards for UX thinking, systems, and execution.
  • Communicate design rationale and recommendations effectively to cross-functional partners and senior leadership, building alignment around complex product decisions.

Qualifications Required

  • 7+ years of product design experience, ideally with e-commerce, marketplace, or consumer-facing digital products.
  • Deep experience designing native mobile products for iOS and Android, with a strong understanding of mobile interaction patterns, platform conventions, and how app experiences should differ from responsive web.
  • A strong app-first product mindset and demonstrated experience identifying opportunities to use native mobile capabilities to create more useful and engaging customer experiences.
  • Experience leading complex, high-impact product initiatives with significant autonomy, from early problem definition through launch and iteration.
  • Significant experience working with and contributing to mature design systems, including evolving existing patterns and introducing scalable new ones.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, libraries, variables, prototyping, and scalable design practices.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Engineering on design system implementation, including component behavior, states, responsiveness, platform considerations, and consistency.
  • Deep understanding of end-to-end customer journeys and the ability to think beyond individual screens or features.
  • Strong understanding of core e-commerce experiences, including discovery, shopping, cart, checkout, account, and post-purchase.
  • Experience using research, usability testing, experimentation, and quantitative data to inform and validate design decisions.
  • Strong interaction design skills and thoughtfulness around micro-interactions, motion, and native app behaviors.
  • Strong attention to detail and visual judgment, with the ability to create polished experiences that align with an established brand.
  • Curiosity and a strong point of view on AI and emerging design tools, including how they can improve exploration, efficiency, prototyping, and the broader design process.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate a clear point of view, navigate tradeoffs, and influence cross-functional partners.
  • Experience mentoring other designers and helping elevate the quality of a broader design team.
