Responsibilities

Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) is seeking a student interested in power generation for a full-time summer internship located at our Watertown Power Plant (WPP) located in Watertown, SD. The position begins in mid-May and goes through mid-August.

Projects and tasks this position will be responsible for:

  • Assist various maintenance activities at the WPP, Marshall Solar Plus (MSP) and Brookings Solar Project (BSP) sites including preventative and corrective maintenance.

  • Create and update work orders in company asset management system.

  • Complete regular and periodic inspections at WPP, MSP & BSP.

  • Assist with the installation of the auxiliary blower project at WPP.

  • Painting interior and exterior facilities at WPP.

  • Assisting in inventory counts and organizing storage locations at WPP, MSP & BSP.

  • Perform various instrument calibrations at WPP.

  • General housekeeping duties as needed.

  • Support WPP operations as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

  • Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • Ability work from height while accompanied.

  • Ability to follow safety procedures as well as written and verbal instructions.

  • Able to interact and communicate effectively with co-workers and the public.
