Position Summary
The Associate Director of Briefings and Research transforms volumes of information into actionable insights. Their mission is to ensure that the president enters every engagement with complete situational awareness and an unshakeable strategic edge. To achieve this, the Associate Director delivers timely executive briefings, summaries, and reports that deepen understanding, transfer institutional knowledge, and cultivate strategic alignment. The Associate Director is responsible for the full briefings work stream. They surface the people, ideas, topics, and trends worth knowing about; they work with colleagues across NYU to quickly source high-quality context; they conduct their own research and leverage public information (such as media, white papers, and books) to supplement internal sources; and they distill their findings into clear, concise, and useful reports. The Associate Director also develops and nurtures trustworthy channels that provide access to up-to-date information — including shared data hubs, dynamic dashboards, and reliable professional contacts. This role serves as an indispensable engine behind leadership’s ability to make decisions and engage meaningfully with people and issues. Success in this role is defined by delivering briefings that help the president feel prepared for the week ahead, producing summaries that illuminate connections and spark the right conversations, and creating an institutional knowledge base that compounds in value.
