Full job description

  • DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

  • Performs a limited number of laboratory analysis and quality control testing following clearly defined preset criteria. Performs venipunctures, micro-collection, blood, specimen collection on inpatients and outpatients. Performs certain clerical and housekeeping functions within the lab. Drug Screen and BAT's.

  • QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional/Educational

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Training and experience; PBT (ASCP), or eligible preferred. Otherwise, on the job training.

  • Position knowledge: must be able to perform venipunctures with a high degree of proficiency and micro-sample collection; must be able to perform simple analysis of a repetitive nature following a predetermined procedure; must be able to communicate test results to personnel within and outside the laboratory; must be able to work independently most of the time.

  • Clerical duties include working with computers, FAX machines, telephones.

  • DCFS Mandated Reporter Certification of Completion required.

  • Personal

  • Evidence of good health, grooming and professional conduct.

  • Desire and ability to cooperate with and/or under the direction of others.

  • Possesses a sense of responsibility, initiative and honesty.

  • Ability to follow directions accurately.

  • Has the ability to work very closely with all laboratory employees, patients, nurses, physicians and other hospital employees.

Actual pay will be determined by qualifications, experience and internal equity.
