Technical Associate II (ELECTRICAL)

It is the job of the Technical Associate II to meet or exceed Kreher quality standards by assisting the technical team with limited supervision in all construction and maintenance activities, and in performing the duties relative to the design, installation, repair and troubleshooting of electrical/electronic equipment. The Technical Associate II is working to learn how best to fix, install and maintain electrical components at Wayne County Eggs. The Technical Associate II is working to develop their leadership skills and provides leadership and direction to any Technical Associate I on their local technical team.

JOB RESPONSIBILTIES

Strategic and tactical work for which this position is accountable:

The main objective of the Technical Associate II’s work is to:

  • Support the activities of the Technical Team within all construction and maintenance activities.

  • Understand role in servicing the customer through efficiency and quality in installing and repairing electrical components.

  • Continually develop knowledge of fixing, installing and maintaining electrical components for the egg farm.

  • Work under limited supervision and independently, where appropriate, in the electrical installation, repair and preventive maintenance of production equipment.

  • Keep informed of mechanical and plumbing systems as they relate to electrical / electronic components.

  • Complete work orders following proper Egg Farm standards to include dates, times, thorough explanations, people involved, problem resolution, etc., and submit to technical manager.

  • Work with and train any Technical Associate I team mates in the proper methods for repairing and conducting preventive maintenance on all electrical equipment on the farm.

  • Look for opportunities to eliminate re-work, waste, etc., and inform management of potential hazards.

  • Continuously learn and apply new methods and technologies.

  • Maintain shop area and equipment used for repairs.

  • Show flexibility; cross train within the electrical department, move to different areas, etc. as needed.

  • Look for opportunities to improve safety, prevent accidents, and help make the egg farm a safe place to work.

  • Perform other duties as requested.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Capabilities and traits essential to perform satisfactorily

A Technical Associate II must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily, including:

  • Able to work under limited supervision to:

  • Trouble shoot, and understand the capacitors on a single-phase electric motor.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on motor power circuits.

  • Replace existing VFD components, with existing program.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on PLCs.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on electrical power circuits and electrical control circuits.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on ethernet, Modbus, Modbus Plus, and fiber networks.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on S08 communications protocol.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on mechanical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler/hot water systems.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on gas space heaters.

  • Perform intermediate-level repairs and installations on raceways, and wire/conductors.

  • Perform intermediate-level diagnostics on electrical panels.

  • Has a basic working knowledge of the systems at WCE and how they are integrated.

  • Effective both working independently and as a member of a team.

  • Highly effective interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Effective verbal and written communication.

  • Will be required to work overtime as needed.

  • Demonstrates Initiative.

  • Takes part in an active rotating “on call” program where you will be able to get to the farm within 15 minutes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • An associate’s degree in Electric Technology or equivalent training and experience is required.

  • Must have a strong knowledge and aptitude with computers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is physically active and requires regular movement throughout agricultural production and operational areas, including animal facilities, processing areas, crop fields, warehouses, shops, and other farm operation areas.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will:

  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, squat, climb, and work in a variety of positions for extended periods.

  • Move throughout the workplace and farm property as needed.

  • See, talk, and hear.

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, equipment, or products weighing up to 50 pounds, with occasional heavier loads as required by the job.

  • May work at varying heights, climb ladders or equipment, and navigate uneven, wet, muddy, or slippery terrain.

  • May drive or ride in farm equipment/vehicle for multiple hours at a time.

  • Use fine motor coordination and manual dexterity to handle tools, equipment, materials, and other items necessary to complete assigned tasks.

Work is performed in indoor and outdoor farm environments and may require exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and humidity. The employee may also be exposed to dust, dirt, manure, noise, odors, agricultural chemicals, machinery, vehicles, animals, and other typical farm conditions. Biosecurity measures must be followed, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.

The employee must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
