What you'll do...

Role summary:

The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT, is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and efficient exterior facility operations. This role involves managing seasonal maintenance, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The technician supports cost control through effective resource management and collaborates with management and third-party providers to uphold quality standards. By troubleshooting issues and delivering timely service, this position contributes to a secure and well-maintained environment that meets operational and customer needs while promoting continuous improvement and adherence to company policies.

The Exterior Services team ensures Walmart’s outdoor areas are well-maintained through expert landscaping, mowing, and facility upkeep. This team efficiently manages projects while adhering to safety and environmental standards and controlling costs. Collaborating with internal and external partners, members deliver quality results, resolve issues, and implement improvements. Focused on safety, operational excellence, and customer satisfaction, the team applies strong project management and budgeting skills. It fosters a professional environment committed to continuous improvement, policy compliance, and supporting Walmart’s dedication to sustainable, well-maintained facilities.

What you'll do:

  • Operate and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment following safety and certification standards.

  • Perform seasonal exterior maintenance including snow and ice management to ensure safe facility conditions.

  • Conduct quality assurance inspections and troubleshoot facility issues to meet operational and safety requirements.

  • Manage vehicle maintenance, inspections, and documentation to ensure readiness and compliance.

  • Coordinate purchases of parts, tools, and equipment while controlling costs and verifying receipts.

  • Lead third-party providers and coach associates to promote professional growth and adherence to policies.

  • Prepare budgets, develop scopes of work, and implement facility upgrades for sustainability and cost efficiency.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven ability to operate and maintain heavy machinery and powered equipment safely and efficiently.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

  • Experience in managing facility exterior services, including seasonal maintenance and snow removal operations.

  • Skilled in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and resolving customer concerns effectively.

  • Competence in budgeting, cost control, and sourcing materials and equipment for repairs and upgrades.

  • Ability to lead third-party providers, coach associates, and conduct performance evaluations.

  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and integrity in all work activities.

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00* *The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

21 years of age or older.

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.

No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.

No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor

vehicle.

No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor

vehicle.

Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre- hire.

As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.

2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card, Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area., Experience in third-party management., Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish., State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).
