Description:

Heartland AEA currently has an opening for a full-time Shelter Care Teacher Associate at the Ellipsis location in Des Moines. This position will work 199 days per year and provide instruction to students and will work with students individually and in small groups to strengthen academic skills in reading, math and writing. The Shelter Care Teacher Associate will provide support services to teachers and students in AEA shelter/detention classrooms, under the direction of a licensed teacher.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess strong team building, interpersonal skills, classroom behavior management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated successful experience working with at-risk students. Two years post-secondary education or paraeducator certification required. Bilingual abilities are a plus but not required.
