Full job description

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Product Designer to join a highly collaborative digital product organization focused on improving the experiences and tools used by financial advisors. This individual will play a hands-on role designing and evolving complex, workflow-driven digital products. The ideal candidate combines strong UX and interaction design fundamentals with the ability to think strategically, collaborate across Product and Engineering, and translate complicated business and user requirements into intuitive experiences.

This role will be approximately 60–70% hands-on product/UX design and 30–40% discovery and product strategy. The right person will be comfortable moving from early concepts and wireframes through detailed designs in Figma while working within and, when appropriate, pushing the boundaries of an established design system.

What You’ll Be Working On The designer will likely support an advisor-facing acquisition experience that enables financial advisors to open and manage financial products for their clients.

The platform has recently progressed from pilot to broader production use and will continue expanding to support additional financial products and workflows. The designer will help simplify complex, multi-step processes and create intuitive experiences that allow advisors to complete their work efficiently and confidently.

As priorities evolve, there may also be opportunities to support additional product teams and digital initiatives across the broader organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product design activities across the lifecycle, from early problem framing and concept development through detailed design and delivery.
  • Create wireframes, user flows, concepts, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs using Figma.
  • Analyze complex advisor workflows and identify opportunities to remove friction, simplify processes, and improve usability.
  • Explore solutions before applying established design-system components and patterns.
  • Effectively leverage a mature design system while identifying opportunities to evolve or extend existing patterns when user and product needs require it.
  • Review existing and legacy experiences, including third-party/vendor solutions, to understand workflows, terminology, interaction patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, UX professionals, designers, and Engineering throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Work proactively with Product to clarify requirements, anticipate design needs, and help shape work ahead of Engineering when possible.
  • Clearly communicate design decisions, trade-offs, and rationale to both design and non-design stakeholders.
  • Translate user insights and research into actionable product improvements.
  • Participate in an Agile product development environment and contribute to planning, refinement, and ongoing product iteration.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to other designers while continuing to operate as a hands-on individual contributor.

What Success Looks Like

A successful designer in this role will be able to quickly understand complicated workflows, ask the right questions, and independently move work forward. They will be equally comfortable exploring early ideas and getting into the details of execution.

Most importantly, they will be able to take a complicated task or multi-step process, understand what the user is ultimately trying to accomplish, and design a simpler and more intuitive way to get them there.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Senior Product Designer who enjoys solving complex product problems, partnering closely with Product teams, and designing experiences that have meaningful impact for their users.

Skills and Requirements

  • 6 + years of professional Product Design, UX Design, Interaction Design, or related experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, UX/UI Design, Product Design, Web Design/Development, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience and training.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Figma, including wireframing, prototyping, user flows, and detailed interface design.
  • Portfolio demonstrating ownership of complex digital product experiences and multi-step user workflows.
  • Strong understanding and application of human-centered and user-centered design principles.
  • Experience working with and contributing to established design systems.
  • Ability to explore concepts independently before moving solutions into established design-system patterns.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, designers, researchers, and Engineering.
  • Experience working within Agile product development teams.
  • Ability to independently drive design work, proactively identify what is needed, and maintain alignment across a cross-functional team.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, including the ability to explain the rationale behind design decisions and connect solutions to user and business outcomes.
  • Experience taking digital products from early concepts through launch and continued iteration.
  • Experience designing complex desktop, enterprise, or internal applications.
  • Experience creating products for specialized professional users rather than exclusively consumer-facing experiences.
  • Background designing transactional, workflow-heavy, or form-intensive applications.
  • Financial services, wealth management, insurance, lending, healthcare, logistics, or another regulated/complex industry is highly desirable.
  • Experience designing tools for financial advisors or similar professional users is a plus.
  • Experience participating in or conducting user research, usability testing, or concept validation.
  • Experience translating research findings into actionable product design decisions.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between user experience, business value, technical feasibility, and measurable product outcomes.
