Full job description

TrustLayer is at the forefront of revolutionizing risk management by automating and simplifying the certificate of insurance (COI) process. Our innovative platform enables businesses to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and enhance operational efficiency. As a rapidly growing SaaS company, we are on a mission to significantly expand our market presence and impact.

The role We're hiring a Technical Product Manager & Designer to shape how customers experience TrustLayer. Design is the heart of this role: you'll own the user experience end to end, from UX research and flows to high-fidelity UI, and pair it with the technical product judgment to get it built well. Our users are risk managers, AP teams, property managers and the vendors who upload documents to them. Many aren't software people. You'll turn complex compliance work — requirements, certificates, deficiencies, renewals — into screens that feel simple, then work side by side with engineering to ship them. This is a hands-on role for someone who designs in Figma in the morning and talks through an API contract with engineers in the afternoon. What you'll do Design (about 60% of the role)

  • Own the end-to-end UX for core workflows: setting insurance requirements, reviewing certificates, resolving deficiencies and the vendor upload portal.
  • Run user research: customer interviews, usability tests and reviews of how people actually use the product.
  • Turn findings into user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes and polished, developer-ready UI in Figma.
  • Build and maintain TrustLayer's design system — components, patterns and guidelines — so the product looks and works consistently.
  • Design clear, trustworthy experiences for AI-assisted features, such as showing how a certificate was read and what needs a human check.
  • Make accessibility and plain language standard in everything we ship.
  • Review builds with engineers and sweat the details until the shipped product matches the intent.

Product management

  • Own the roadmap for your product areas and write clear specs with user stories, acceptance criteria and edge cases.
  • Partner with engineering leadership on scope, sequencing and technical trade-offs, including API and data model decisions.
  • Work with Customer Success and Sales to find the problems worth solving and validate solutions early.
  • Define success metrics for each release and use product data (SQL, analytics tools) to measure results.
  • Coordinate launches with release notes, demos and enablement for customer-facing teams.

What you bring

  • A portfolio showing B2B or SaaS product design work, with your process from problem to shipped result.
  • 5+ years of combined experience in product design and product management, with at least 3 years designing complex web applications.
  • Expert skills in Figma, including components, auto layout and interactive prototyping.
  • Experience planning and running user research and usability testing, and turning findings into design decisions.
  • Strong interaction and visual design fundamentals: information hierarchy, data-heavy tables and forms, and responsive layouts.
  • Working technical knowledge: REST APIs, relational data models and how front-end components are built. Comfort writing basic SQL.
  • Clear, concise writing — specs, design rationale and updates people actually read.
  • Experience working with engineers on a distributed team, from scoping through release.

Nice to have

  • Experience building or scaling a design system.
  • Front-end skills (HTML, CSS, React) to prototype in code or pair with engineers on UI.
  • Experience designing AI/LLM-powered features, document processing or data-review workflows.
  • Background in insurtech, risk management, compliance, construction tech or proptech.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Salesforce and product analytics tools.
