Educational Alliance (EA), one of New York City’s original settlement houses, was founded in 1889 to offer educational, social, and cultural services to Jewish immigrants arriving to the Lower East Side. We are seeking a part-time Digital Communications Coordinator to strengthen our digital presence across social media and web platforms. This role is designed for an early-career professional looking to build practical experience in social media, content creation, and website management within a mission-driven organization.

The Digital Communications Coordinator will support the execution of a comprehensive digital marketing strategy across Educational Alliance’s network of community centers, helping ensure that all digital platforms are current, reflective of community needs, and aligned with organizational priorities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working across a range of digital tasks and learning by doing in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Digital Strategy and Execution

  • Support the implementation of a unified digital marketing strategy across the organization’s social media accounts and websites

  • Help plan and execute digital campaigns that promote programs, services, and leadership priorities

  • Ensure consistency in voice, tone, and branding across all digital platforms

Digital Contect Creation

  • Partner with program staff, Director of Communications, and Graphic Designer to source and develop content for social media

  • Identify opportunities to highlight programs, community members, and impact stories

  • Write compelling, mission-aligned captions and adapt content for different audiences

  • Capture photos and short-form video at programs and events

  • Edit basic photo and video content for reels, posts, and stories

  • Create simple, on-brand social media graphics using templates and existing design guidelines

  • Schedule and publish content for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms

Website Content & Updates

  • Update website content regularly, including program pages, event listings, and landing pages

  • Collaborate with program teams to ensure website information is accurate and up to date

  • Support basic website formatting and content improvements in collaboration with Director of Communications and Graphic Designer

  • Assist in building or updating program pages as needed

Engagement & Monitoring

  • Monitor organizational social media accounts

  • Respond to comments and messages as appropriate, and engage with followers and partners

  • Track basic performance metrics across social and web and flag trends/ promotional opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–3 years of experience in digital marketing, communications, or social media

  • Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail

  • Experience creating digital content, including basic photo/video editing and simple graphic design using Canva, CapCut, Adobe Express, or similar tools

  • Experience capturing photo/video content in real-world program settings

  • Familiarity with website content management systems such as WordPress or Squarespace

  • Basic understanding of social media and website analytics

  • Highly organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple content streams

  • Interest in community-based work and mission-driven nonprofits
