Caterpillar Inc. seeks Configurator Systems Integration Engineer at its facility located at 3000 North 27th Street, Decatur, IL 62526. Work on concepts and integrate new products, components, or technologies. Create, implement, and improve engineering designs, processes, techniques, tooling, and machinery to meet customer requirements and maximize product quality. Research & develop design parameters, performance characteristics, and technical specifications of new products and components. Support or guide the evolution of technical design, technical project planning, performance analysis of products. Monitor and explore new technologies, materials, and components to understand products or process improvement opportunities. Manage/maintain top level 3D model of current product line. Manage design and system integration of new components, systems and manufacturing processes. Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other business units. Review Engineering Change Notices to ensure the intended design meets product and customer requirements and can be integrated into the product design successfully. Lead resolution of issues regarding manufacturing or building sequences, ensure design acceptance and manufacturing readiness. Plan and improve engineering procedures and operations to make products or processes more reliable, efficient, and cost-effective. Collaborate with functional areas (engineering, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide design solutions that meet the requirements of customers and dealer network. Analyze implementation challenges of DFM methodologies and share it with supervisors. Document each stage of the design process for audit and review purposes. Implement DFM methodologies to standardize product designs, simplify operations, and reduce costs of manufacturing processes. Utilize DFM tools and technologies to implement DFM methodologies. Work with basic, routine components of the engineering discipline in manufacturing. Use experience with machine design/process design, engineering coordination activity and in machine assembly/processing. Oversee complicated product design projects across multi-functions design. Demonstrate experience with Siemens Teamcenter and CREO applications. Identify and document specific problems and resolution alternatives. Lead or support resolving complex mechanical system issues on the product or assembly process related to new or revised components/systems. REQS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field plus 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical System Engineer, Production Engineer or related occupation. In the alternative, the employer will accept a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer, Design Engineer, Mechanical System Engineer, Production Engineer or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) applied to component design; (2) Siemens Teamcenter and CREO applications; (3) Design for manufacturability; (4) Print reading; and (5) Design of complex machines. Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
