Overview
What You’ll Be Doing
This position will contribute to the protection of healthy rivers, lakes, and coasts and ensure safe drinking water across the nation. As part of a team of dedicated professionals, the selected candidate will perform data analysis and research in support of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and other government agencies. They will deliver high-quality products and services to clients on projects related to surface water quality assessment, watershed planning, nonpoint source management, analysis of drinking water contamination, protection of drinking water sources, development of water regulations, administration of water-related grant programs, and water infrastructure planning.
This position requires previous professional experience with one or more Clean Water Act programs, such as nonpoint source pollution, assessment of surface water quality standards, impaired waters listing, or development of Total Maximum Daily Loads. Working with Safe Drinking Water Act programs is also a plus. Experience could come from a previous position with a government agency, consulting firm, or another organization involved with implementing federal water regulations. The selected candidate will apply their knowledge, skills, and experience to plan and complete tasks to identify, evaluate, and review sources of data and information; perform data cleaning, analysis, and visualization; write technical documents; and assist with developing educational, training, or outreach materials. Experience working with large environmental datasets and geospatial layers and using programming languages (R or Python) for data analysis is also required.
The position will interact with colleagues, clients, and external federal, state, and local entities to understand challenges, discuss solutions, present methods and results, and gather feedback.
This position can be based out of any Cadmus office location. A fully remote arrangement will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

Implement methods to clean, analyze, and store data using R.
-
Complete analysis of raster and vector geospatial data using ArcGIS software and the Python programming language.

Research and evaluate national, state, and local data sets for inclusion in water sector projects.

Assist in the development and maintenance of tools and dashboards for viewing and analyzing water-related data, including developing ArcGIS Online or Power BI products.

Develop appropriate data analysis documentation, including summaries of methodologies and results.

Perform literature reviews for topics relevant to the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act and summarize literature review findings.

Provide quality control support when developing client deliverables.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, water resources management, geography, ecology, or a related discipline.

Between 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience with a government agency, consulting firm, or other organization involved with implementing the Clean Water Act. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may substitute for 2 years of professional experience.

Experience retrieving and analyzing large environmental datasets and geospatial data layers, such as land use, demographic, ecological, hydrologic, and water sampling data.

Advanced skills in R and Python for data cleaning and analyzing large and complex datasets.

Experience working with raster and vector geospatial data using ArcGIS Pro software and ArcPy functions.

Familiarity with using ArcGIS Online, Power BI, or Shiny to develop interactive tools and dashboards for visualizing data.

Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to apply quality control practices.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and team members.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
Additional Information:
Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States as a U.S Perm Resident or U.S. Citizen.
Based on eligibility and job status, Cadmus offers an excellent benefits package to include: medical, dental, vision, company paid disability and life insurance, 401(k) program, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, voluntary time off (VTO), tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance program, other optional benefits and various bonus programs.
The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. The actual salary will be determined by several factors, including relevant work experience, education, skills, and market competitiveness.
