Transform patient care and the community as an ICU Program Medical Director in Aiken, SC

Our mission in Aiken is to provide “better” in every sense—better healthcare, better teamwork, and a lasting impact on the community we proudly serve. Ready to grow your career in a place that values community and collaboration? Let’s talk.

Local Team Collaboration:

  • Aiken Regional Medical Centers is a 273 licensed-bed acute care hospital, primary stroke center, and community-based teaching hospital that offers a comprehensive range of specialties and services.

  • 20-bed closed ICU (med/surg/cardiac surgery population), which is staffed with one intensivist from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. TeleICU covers nights (this is a day shift only role).

  • Internal Medicine Residency program. Residents are always present in the ICU during the day.

  • Phenomenal hospital administration. The CEO is an advocate for the hospital and a true partner to our critical care program. The EM and HM services are also through Sound and we are a tight-knit group.

  • Within the hospital, we work closely with our colleagues in other departments to ensure smooth transitions of care.

  • Many of our team members are active in several committees including stroke, sepsis, and practice guidelines.

  • EMR: Cerner

Qualifications:

  • Board-certified or board-eligible critical care physicians (MD or DO).

  • 2 years of practicing experience and involvement in committee and/or quality improvement work.

  • Prior Medical Director experience is not required.

  • Authorized to work in the United States.

Scheduling:

  • 14-15 clinical day shifts per month plus administrative duties.

  • We collaborate to manage the schedule as equitably as possible, ensuring intensivists achieve an outstanding work/family life balance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the leader for ICU service and Sound – hold an attitude of continuous improvement and accountability.

  • Lead a cohesive Intensivist team and make a positive impact in the ICU and community.

  • Ability to work collaboratively within the ICU with all team members and across the hospital.

  • Easy commutes to high elevations in the Blue Ridge Mountains and low country beach towns like Charleston and Savannah.
