Full job description

Overview

Microsoft is looking for a Director of Product Marketing to lead product marketing and business strategy for Azure Databricks. Azure Databricks is an important part of Microsoft’s data and AI portfolio, bringing together the capabilities of Azure and Databricks to help customers build modern data, analytics, and AI solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining how Azure Databricks is positioned within the broader Microsoft portfolio and translating product, customer, market, and competitive insights into strategies that drive business growth. You will work closely with teams across Engineering, Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Business Development, as well as with Databricks, to align priorities and drive execution.

You will also play a leadership role in Microsoft’s relationship with Databricks, building trusted relationships across both companies and connecting joint product, business, and marketing priorities to measurable customer and business outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings strong product marketing and business leadership, experience working across complex technology partnerships, and the technical depth to participate credibly in product, engineering, and customer conversations.

In this role you should emphasize turning insights into actionable plans, rallying cross-functional teams around outcomes, influencing strategy at corporate level, and establishing trusted senior partner relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product marketing strategy for Azure Databricks, including positioning, messaging, value proposition, audience strategy, and go-to-market priorities across Microsoft.

  • Define and communicate the role of Azure Databricks within Microsoft’s broader data, analytics, AI, and Azure portfolio, partnering across product and marketing teams to create clear and differentiated customer and field narratives.

  • Develop data-driven business and marketing strategies that accelerate Azure Databricks growth, with accountability for influencing Azure Consumed Revenue (ACR), customer adoption and usage, pipeline, and relevant marketing performance indicators.

  • Serve as a key business and marketing leader for Microsoft’s strategic relationship with Databricks, developing trusted relationships with senior stakeholders across both companies and aligning joint priorities to mutual business objectives.

  • Partner with Engineering, Sales, Finance, Business Development, and Marketing to identify growth opportunities, understand business performance, address barriers to adoption, and translate insights into actionable business plans.

  • Build a deep understanding of Azure Databricks products, architecture, workloads, customer scenarios, and roadmap, using that expertise to contribute meaningfully to product and business discussions and translate technical capabilities into differentiated customer value.

  • Develop and leverage customer, partner, competitive, market, and business insights to inform product positioning, investment decisions, go-to-market priorities, and opportunities for growth.

  • Lead go-to-market planning and execution across launches, field enablement, customer engagement, events, campaigns, and other marketing motions, ensuring consistency across customer and seller experiences.

  • Establish clear measures of success, use data and insights to evaluate business and marketing performance, and adjust strategy and investments to improve outcomes.

  • Influence and align senior stakeholders across organizational boundaries, driving clarity and execution in areas where product, partner, marketing, and business priorities intersect.

Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 4+ years experience in business OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 6+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 8+ years marketing or sales experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Business or related field AND 12+ years experience in business OR equivalent experience.

  • Experience developing product positioning, messaging, go-to-market strategy, or business strategy for enterprise technology products or services.

  • Experience working cross-functionally across product, engineering, sales, marketing, business development, finance, and/or partner organizations.

  • Experience using business, customer, market, or marketing data to develop strategy and measure business impact.

  • Experience in cloud computing, data and analytics, databases, data engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or related enterprise technology markets

  • Experience working with strategic technology partners and building relationships across complex, matrixed organizations.

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to engage effectively with engineering, product management, technical sellers, partners, and customers.
