Full job description
Associate Account Executive, Builder Finance
You have already proven you can create pipeline as a top SDR, BDR, junior originator, or early-career seller. This is your chance to stop handing off the best qualified opportunities and earn your way into full-cycle Account Executive ownership while learning a differentiated private-credit product that helps local and regional homebuilders fund new housing.
The Opportunity
Our client is a real estate finance and technology company building a smarter capital platform for residential builders. The company combines institutional capital, proprietary data, and an operator-led approach to serve builders who are often underserved by traditional lenders.
This is not a mature, highly scripted sales organization. The builder-finance business is growing, the go-to-market playbook is still being sharpened, and this hire will have room to influence how the team identifies, qualifies, and wins the right builder relationships.
As an Associate Account Executive, Builder Finance, you will start by owning the front end of the revenue engine: researching local and regional builders, creating qualified conversations, understanding how they finance projects today, and advancing the right opportunities to senior sales and credit partners. As you build product judgment and demonstrate consistent execution, your scope will expand into deeper discovery, solution positioning, proposal follow-through, negotiation, and closing.
The goal is not to keep a strong seller in an SDR box. The goal is to develop the next high-output Account Executive on the team.
What You Will Own
-
Build targeted outbound pipeline among local and regional residential builders and developers.
-
Research prospective borrowers, active projects, local markets, and likely capital needs before outreach.
-
Run sharp initial conversations that uncover project type, financing timing, current lender setup, and the builder’s real constraint.
-
Form and test useful hypotheses about what is creating friction in a builder’s current capital approach instead of defaulting to a generic product pitch.
-
Qualify opportunities based on borrower fit, project economics, timing, and likelihood of a productive next step.
-
Help align builders, internal credit partners, senior sales leaders, and other decision-makers around a clear next step when an opportunity is worth advancing.
-
Coordinate with senior sales, credit, capital markets, and operating partners to move qualified opportunities forward.
-
Maintain disciplined CRM data, follow-up, and funnel visibility so activity converts into learning and repeatable production.
-
Learn the mechanics of ground-up construction lending and use that knowledge to make outreach and discovery more credible.
-
Progress toward owning more of the sales cycle, including solution development, proposal follow-through, negotiation, and close.
-
Help improve messaging, segmentation, objection handling, and the emerging builder-finance go-to-market playbook.
What Makes You a Strong Fit
-
You have 1–3 years of success in a quota-carrying or revenue-generating B2B sales role.
-
You have meaningful experience creating pipeline through outbound prospecting, not only working inbound leads or managing existing accounts.
-
You have experience in residential transition lending, business-purpose lending, private lending, real estate finance, mortgage, financial services, or another complex capital-related sale.
-
You can point to strong performance such as quota attainment, peer ranking, awards, promotion, production growth, or unusually fast increases in responsibility.
-
You know how to ask thoughtful discovery questions, qualify without over-selling, and communicate clearly with business owners and finance-oriented customers.
-
You bring a strong operating cadence across research, outreach, follow-up, CRM hygiene, and activity-to-outcome measurement.
-
You are motivated to learn a more technical product and earn full-cycle closing responsibility.
-
You are comfortable working in a build-stage environment where initiative and sound judgment matter more than a finished script.
Especially Relevant Backgrounds
You may be a strong match if you have been successful in one of these environments:
-
Sales development, business development, junior origination, loan officer, or early Account Executive roles in residential transition lending or business-purpose real estate lending.
-
Selling financing, capital, or advisory solutions to builders, developers, real estate investors, or other owner-operators.
-
Performing at a high level inside a larger sales organization and looking for more ownership, a more technical product, and a clearer path to closing.
-
Working around ground-up residential construction lending, bridge lending, fix-and-flip, DSCR, or adjacent private-credit products.
What Success Looks Like
-
You establish a credible, consistent outbound engine and convert activity into qualified builder conversations.
-
Your opportunities are well researched, accurately qualified, and worth the time of senior sales and credit partners.
-
You develop fluency in builder finance quickly enough to improve discovery and handle increasingly substantive conversations.
-
You turn coaching and deal feedback into visible changes in your approach.
-
You earn progressively greater ownership of the sales cycle and become a trusted full-cycle producer.
Compensation
The base salary range is $90,000–$120,000. Expected total cash opportunity is approximately $110,000–$170,000, depending on performance.
Location and Work Model
This role is based in New York City and works in office. The team is intentionally focused on an in-person New York talent pool for this search.
Why Join
This is a strong fit for someone who has already proved they can create pipeline and now wants a real path to closing. You will learn a differentiated lending product, work close to experienced sales and capital-markets leaders, and help build a go-to-market motion tied directly to increasing housing production.
