Join Clariant as a Network and Automation Engineer and play a hands-on role supporting automation, controls, and OT network systems across our Louisville South and West Plants. You will focus primarily on PLCs, controls integration, troubleshooting, and automation improvements, while also supporting industrial networking and cybersecurity.

You'll work closely with Engineering, Maintenance, Manufacturing, IT, and external partners to troubleshoot equipment, modernize legacy systems, identify automation opportunities, and support digitization and continuous improvement initiatives. This is a strong opportunity to grow your technical expertise in industrial automation while developing broader OT networking capabilities.

Responsibilities

Support the selection, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of instrumentation, PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems.

Maintain and support OT network infrastructure, cybersecurity, data backups, and IT/OT compliance.

Support PIMS/historian, data analytics, IIoT, and other digitalization initiatives.

Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technical teams on controls requirements for capital, improvement, and continuous improvement projects.

Coordinate with third-party vendors and support procurement of automation-related equipment and services.

Develop and maintain control logic, interlocks, and Safety Instrumented System (SIS) functions.

Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to Maintenance teams on automation-related issues.

Support site ESHA requirements and ensure automation activities comply with applicable safety and environmental standards.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Instrumentation/Automation (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

At least 1 year of experience as a field technician or PLC programmer in a chemical/industrial plant environment, with a focus on instrument and controls installation.

Candidates with strong aptitude and willingness to learn are encouraged to apply, even without direct PLC brand experience - training and mentorship will be provided.

Familiarity with programming platforms such as GE Cimplicity and Machine Edition preferred

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Profibus DP/PA, Profinet, Genius, TCP/IP, Modbus TCP/IP, Serial) preferred

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

High level of dependability and punctuality

Results-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
