Location:Caro Center 2040 Chambers Rd, Caro, MI 48723
Must be willing to intern 10-30 hours a week
Intern Summary
The social work intern will conduct Psycho-Social assessments, identify treatment goals/interventions, administer treatment, and document patient response to treatment and progress related to social work interventions. The social work intern will participate in the planning, coordinating, and implementation of social work-related therapeutic groups and/or individual treatment as defined in each patient’s Individual Plan of Service (IPOS). Social workers’ primary role is discharge planning (with exposure to forensic population of Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI) and Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST)).
Responsibilities:
Social Work intern duties include but are not limited to:

Conducting Psycho-Social Initial and Annual assessments in accordance with established clinical standards.

Developing individualized social work interventions based upon assessed patient needs.

Planning and conducting social work groups for patients as part of the Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) program as indicated by patient need.

Participating as a member of the interdisciplinary team for the assigned unit(s) in relevant aspects of the Person-Centered Planning process.

Documenting progress on the various treatment modalities as indicated by departmental guidelines and/or hospital policy.

Completing documentation for social work sessions and weekly/monthly progress notes.

Coordination with CMHSP agencies for discharge planning.

Forensic reports to the Center for Forensic Psychiatry (CFP) and courts.

Coordination with families, guardians, outside agencies and services.

Admissions process and intake to Caro Psychiatric Hospital (CPH).

Completing documentation for each group and individual therapy session and weekly/monthly progress notes.
At the time of internship, must be currently enrolled pursuing your bachelors degree or higher in one of the below areas of study:
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

Must be actively enrolled in a college and university.

Must have achieved at least a bachelor's degree and meet the qualifications of the learning institution.

The academic major must be consistent with the area of which the student is seeking an internship (Social Work)

Must provide a copy of respective academic institution’s Internship Agreement outlining internship objectives and academic instructor’s name and telephone learning institution, and preferentially, are enrolled in a graduate program.

Must have satisfactory criminal history and protective services background check.

Must possess a valid & unrestricted driver’s license.
