Position Summary:
The Vice President, IT provides vision and leadership for information technology initiatives supporting Taiho Oncology, Inc. (TOI) and its affiliates in Canada and Europe (collectively, Taiho West). This individual reports to the SVP, Finance and is responsible for IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, applications, support, financial management, and regulatory compliance. As the executive sponsor of enterprise AI adoption, the VP, IT leads AI strategy and governance across Taiho West, driving the responsible use of AI to enhance productivity and accelerate innovation. The VP, IT also provides executive oversight of facilities and facilities planning.
Performance Objectives:
IT Leadership & Strategy

As a member of the TOI Leadership Team, develops and executes IT strategy aligned with business objectives across Taiho West.

Collaborates with Taiho Japan IT, business leaders, and external partners to establish technology roadmaps.

Establishes IT department goals, responsibilities, standards, policies, and operating procedures.

Defines and communicates enterprise technology policies and governance frameworks.
-
Prepares and presents technology strategies, plans, and updates to the TOI Senior Leadership Team.

Co-chairs the Global Digital IT Committee.
IT Organization & Operations
-
Provides leadership and direction for the IT organization, ensuring appropriate structure, talent development, succession planning, and high-performance teamwork.

Promotes service excellence and continuous improvement across IT operations.

Ensures technology solutions and infrastructure effectively support business needs and future growth.
AI & Digital Innovation

Leads enterprise AI strategy and governance across Taiho West, serving as the executive sponsor for AI adoption and digital innovation.

Drives the responsible deployment and use of AI solutions aligned with business priorities, regulatory requirements, and Taiho's oncology mission, leveraging Microsoft's AI ecosystem as the company's primary AI platform.

Partners with business functions to identify and implement AI-enabled opportunities that improve productivity, decision-making, and business outcomes in a responsible manner.
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
-
Leads enterprise cybersecurity, technology risk management, and business continuity efforts.

Ensures IT systems, processes, and data practices comply with applicable regulatory, privacy, quality, cybersecurity, audit, and J-SOX requirements.

Establishes and maintains AI governance, information security, and data protection frameworks to support compliance and audit readiness.
Financial Management & Technology Investments
-
Develops, manages, and monitors IT operating and capital budgets.
-
Builds strategic IT investment plans, business cases, and cost-benefit analyses in partnership with business stakeholders.
-
Assesses, communicates, and mitigates risks associated with technology investments.
-
Oversees technology vendor strategy, contract management, and partner relationships.
-
Supports technology due diligence for business development, licensing, or acquisition opportunities as needed.
Facilities Oversight
-
Provides executive oversight of facilities and facilities planning for TOI, including space planning, workplace strategy, and facility-related projects.
-
Coordinates with landlords, property managers, and external partners regarding facility projects and construction activities as needed.
Other Responsibilities
-
Collaborates with Otsuka and Taiho group companies as needed.
-
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education/Certification Requirements:
-
Bachelor's degree (Computer Science preferred).
-
Advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-
15+ years of progressive growth experience, preferably across IT and business roles.
-
Vision-driven, consultative leadership style; hands-on coach with sound judgment and the ability to make timely decisions once input is gathered.
-
Strong verbal, written, and executive communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and present clearly to the Senior Leadership Team.
-
Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry preferred, with knowledge of clinical development and commercial operations; experience in a company transitioning from clinical-stage to commercial operations is a plus.
-
Bridges competing stakeholder interests to reach aligned outcomes, builds trust through consistent execution, and thrives in high-pressure, deadline-driven environments.

Experience with business IT applications, technologies, and project management.
-
Demonstrated experience leading enterprise AI, data, or digital transformation initiatives, including governance, responsible adoption, data management, compliance, and value realization.

Experience with Microsoft-based AI and cloud technologies, including Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI, Copilot Studio, Microsoft Fabric, or similar platforms, is strongly preferred.

Experience supporting IT general controls, audit readiness, J-SOX, cybersecurity, privacy, and other compliance requirements in a regulated environment.

Experience in operational planning, forecasting, capital management, and developing project budgets.

Experience working with a non-U.S. headquartered parent company and collaborating effectively with global headquarters and international stakeholders.

Positive, flexible, proactive, and hands-on leadership approach.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $296,650 - $349,000 annually. This pay range is based on the market range for positions of this type. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including annual bonus/incentive comp plans, potential long term incentive plan, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate/employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
