Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Hudson Valley is one of 30 community colleges in the State University of New York (SUNY) system and serves nearly 9,000 students each year. The college is a recognized leader in career and transfer preparation, workforce training initiatives, distance learning and service to a diverse population of students. Hudson Valley has an extension center in Malta, NY known as HVCC North and sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, NY. Applications are being accepted for the following vacancies for the Spring 2027 semester on the Faculty staff of Hudson Valley Community College, Troy, New York.

Department: Applied Technology

Instructor – Mechatronics HV-FAC-9985

Full Time Probationary

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of 3 years of documented hands-on experience working in automation, industrial maintenance, electrical/mechanical technology or related technical field. Associate’s degree in Mechatronics or related field from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering. Experience teaching in a vocational classroom setting.

Duties and/or Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction throughout the mechatronics program, creating engaging and relevant classroom and laboratory content which prepares learners to diagnose and repair basic and advanced automotive systems.

  • Evaluate student performance through the use of in-class and take-home assignments, as well as written examinations and hands-on evaluations.

  • Engage with industry partners to build pathways for student recruitment, retention and employment.

  • Participation in departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.

  • At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as set forth in the Faculty Contract.

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days), which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours, typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester. Teaching load may include evening, weekend and/or online assignments, and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
