Full job description

At Netflix, our mission is to entertain the world. Together, we are writing the next episode - pushing the boundaries of storytelling, global fandom and making the unimaginable a reality. We are a dream team obsessed with the uncomfortable excitement of discovering what happens when you merge creativity, intuition and cutting-edge technology. Come be a part of what’s next.

About the team

Content Promotion & Distribution (CPD) sits at the intersection of the consumer experience and the Netflix Studio. We make Netflix feel personal and relevant by changing how we catalog, promote, localize, and distribute content. Within CPD, Promotional Assets & Creative Technology (PACT) builds the technology that promotes content on and off the service.

Promotional Artwork Engineering owns the platform that takes artwork from creation to the member's screen. Our systems cover:

  • Artwork production and delivery: requesting, creating, reviewing, and approving artwork, and getting it ingested and conformed to Netflix specs.
  • Localization at scale: managing artwork by title, country, and language across hundreds of markets.
  • Quality and automation: automated checks, cropping and safe-zone rules, and workflows that remove manual effort from artwork operations.
  • Asset management: a central home for finding, managing, and reusing promotional assets.

The team is a mix of UI and backend engineers. They work across Java and Spring Boot services, React and TypeScript frontends, GraphQL, and Netflix's managed data and workflow platforms. Our users include internal creative, marketing, and localization partners as well as external vendors and agencies, and our systems feed the artwork members see every day.

The role

You will lead an established team of software engineers who own a broad portfolio of artwork products, growing its people and shaping its direction.

What you will do

  • Lead and grow the team. Hire, coach, and develop UI and backend engineers. Set a high bar and build a culture of ownership, open feedback, and inclusion.

  • Own delivery. Turn the roadmap into reliable, timely results for stakeholders whose needs compete. Be clear about trade-offs and say no when you need to.

  • Be a credible technical partner. Help the team make sound decisions in ambiguous situations, and weigh in on architecture and design.

  • Run the portfolio. Decide where the team invests: new capabilities, foundational work, tech debt, and modernizing and consolidating older systems.

  • Own operational excellence. Drive system health through clear metrics, good observability, and on-call practices that prevent predictable outages.

  • Partner broadly. Work with product, design, and peer engineering managers, and with creative, marketing, and localization stakeholders, as well as external vendors and agencies. Influence direction, communicate complex ideas clearly, and prioritize beyond the edges of your own domain.

  • Bring rigor to ambiguity. Combine data, input from others, active dissent, and small pilot investments to build understanding and confirm direction.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years managing engineering teams, with a record of attracting and retaining strong talent and building inclusive, high-accountability cultures.

  • Experience building and operating reliable enterprise products that support critical use cases, including 24x7 on-call.

  • A strong product mindset and the ability to articulate vision and strategy, and to tie team work to broader business goals.

  • The courage to pivot when the situation changes.

  • A proven record of delivering on critical priorities amid many competing demands, and of influencing product and engineering leadership on where to invest.

  • Experience driving teams to adopt metrics and leading indicators of system health.

  • Excellent communication and partnership skills, including across global time zones.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with creative, media, or content-supply workflows.
  • Experience with enterprise software, distributed systems, or workflow and pipeline platforms.
  • Experience leading teams that include both UI and UX engineers and backend engineers.
