Full job description
Rainmaker is pioneering a modern cloud seeding system to solve water scarcity and inclement weather problems. We develop and incorporate radar validation, weather-resistant UAS, numerical weather modeling, and sustainable cloud seeds into an effective precipitation enhancement solution. The Engineering team at Rainmaker works on our UAS, dispersion payload, and in-situ/remote sensing systems. In this role you will be reporting directly to the Electrical Engineering Lead and will be working on mission critical subsystems for our UAS platform.

What You'll Do

Full System Design: Work with Mechanical, Software, Manufacturing, and Testing teams to take a product or subsystem from the ideation stage to production.

Rapid Hardware Prototyping: Design and build functional prototypes for UAS subsystems, iterating quickly based on flight test feedback and mission requirements.

PCB Design: Create schematic and layouts for power distribution, sensor interfaces, payload controllers and communication modules using Altium or KiCad.

Board Bringup and Testing: Assemble, debug, and validate new PCBs; develop test procedures and fixtures to verify functionality and reliability under flight conditions.

Documentation: Write technical documentation, prepare fabrication and assembly data for manufacturers.
Required Qualifications
-
2–5 years of electrical engineering experience (internships, co-ops, and capstone/project work count) with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field — or equivalent practical experience in lieu of a degree

Demonstrated ability to design hardware using with PCB design software (Altium or KiCad)

Experience with embedded systems and microcontrollers (Raspberry Pi, NVIDIA Jetson, STM32, ESP32, RP2040)

Embedded programming experience. Writing drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN devices and working with real time operating systems.

Comfortable designing power electronics circuits. (DCDC Converters, Load Switches,

Experience with EE Lab equipment (Oscilloscope, Power Supply, DC Load, etc.)

Experience applying technical ability outside of the classroom (Personal projects, research, extracurriculars, or prior internship/work experience)
