Full job description

About Code Metal Code Metal is the leader in automated software engineering you can trust. As AI writes more of the world's code, the bottleneck in software has shifted from writing code to verifying it works, and AI cannot verify its own work with certainty. Code Metal takes a fundamentally different approach: constrain AI to what it does reliably, verify every step independently of the model using formal methods, and keep engineers in the loop on the decisions that matter. The result isn't code that probably works — it's code that is provably correct, with auditable proof. Customers including the U.S. Air Force, L3Harris, RTX, and Toshiba use Code Metal to modernize legacy code, optimize performance on real hardware, and move prototypes to production, fast. Founded in 2023 with offices in Boston and San Francisco, Code Metal is funded by Accel, Salesforce Ventures, B Capital, Smith Point Capital, J2 Ventures, Shield Capital, Overmatch, RTX, and others. This role blends strategy, capture, relationship-building, and problem-solving. You’ll partner directly with company execs to inform, co-develop, execute, and lead Code Metal’s GTM strategy for the USMC. This role is ideal for someone who understands the current and emerging problems that the Navy faces and is excited to figure out how Code Metal can address those problems. You will quarterback engagements from introduction to contract execution, and navigate Code Metal through the service. You’re pumped about working at a dual-use company with proven AI, whose mission is to solve some of the government’s most urgent problems. You also crave everything from the national security mission to figuring out and rapidly getting on the best contract vehicle to enable delivery. At Code Metal, you’ll work closely with Deployment Strategists, product leads, fellow Growth leaders, and engineers. Our customers span the Pentagon, COCOM/MAJCOMs, and acquisition staffs. We’re seeking a leader to drive USMC revenue growth—someone who can see around corners, put Code Metal in position as policy and acquisition priorities evolve, navigate complex programs, understand and explain our complex technology, and chart a growth path.

Responsibilities:

  • Define, lead, and execute the GTM strategy for USMC.

  • Maintain and further build relationships across the service.

  • Shape and turn opportunities into contracts.

  • Contribute to congressional engagements to ensure decision makers and influencers have accurate information on Code Metal execution and potential contribution to national security.

  • Anticipate and maintain status of relevant policy, budget, and acquisition shifts that open new opportunities.

  • Collaborate with technical teams to align Code Metal’s product with government needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (MBA a plus).

  • USMC fluency.

  • Experience in business development, capture, or GTM leadership within government or defense technology sectors with a proven history of success.

  • Deep understanding of DOW acquisition, procurement, and team structures and processes.

  • Proven track record of expanding business, or getting the USMC bureaucracy to adopt a major, new initiative.

  • Demonstrated success driving multi-million-dollar defense programs or contracts.

  • Exceptional relationship building, communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.

  • U.S. Citizen required.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the following:

  • Dept. of War component command, or joint logistics / operations roles

  • Defense policy, acquisition, or program management within DoW or other government agencies

  • Delivering growth outcomes for defense products, specifically in early-stage or dual-use technology environments

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active U.S. security clearance

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 50%

Benefits

  • Pay depends on experience, but we strive to be at the upper end of the salary range

  • Health care plan with 100% premium coverage, including medical, dental, and vision

  • 401k with 5% matching

  • Paid Time Off (uncapped vacation, plus sick and public holidays)

  • Flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement

  • Relocation assistance for qualifying employees

Wage Transparency - The salary range for this role is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as the final offer amount may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, individual proficiency, skills, experience, and location.

We are an equal opportunity employer. US Citizenship may be required for certain project assignments involving security clearance.

Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.
