Full job description

Position Summary

The Chemical Engineering Intern will support chemical processes related to cleaning, finishing, heat treatment, non-destructive testing, and environmental compliance.

This role is ideal for a student who wants to apply chemical engineering principles in a precision defense manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support chemical processes such as cleaning, plating, finishing, and heat treatment

  • Assist in monitoring chemical baths, pH, concentration, temperature, and titration

  • Help develop and document SOPs for chemical handling, safety, and process control

  • Support environmental compliance, waste minimization, and chemical inventory management

  • Assist with root cause analysis for process deviations and quality issues

  • Collaborate with quality, EHS, and production teams

  • Analyze process data and recommend improvements

  • Present findings and recommendations at the end of the internship

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related field

  • Completed coursework in thermodynamics, transport phenomena, materials science, and chemistry laboratory

  • Familiarity with lab instrumentation and data analysis

  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and communication skills

  • Interest in manufacturing, metallurgy, surface finishing, or defense applications

  • Must be a U.S. Person due to ITAR requirements

Preferred

  • Prior internship or laboratory experience in chemical processing or materials testing

  • Exposure to environmental regulations, wastewater treatment, or industrial hygiene

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher
