Summary
About the position: This position will be a Recreation Aid (Lifeguard) assigned to Outdoor Recreation at Minot AFB, ND. This is a FLEXIBLE (FLEX) position. A Flex (Intermittent) schedule does not have guaranteed hours, and you may work 0-40 hours per week as needed by the facility. Employees are eligible to use the fitness center, golf course, bowling center, clubs, and swimming pool.
Duties
Duties and Responsibilities: Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, ocean conditions of rough water or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards. Ensures that diving boards are inspected frequently for cracks or loose matting, and that necessary repairs are made. May perform other related or incidental duties as assigned for the daily operation of the swimming area to include: cleaning of bath houses, wading pools, main pools, pool decks, beach areas, sunbathing areas, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: For pool and aquatic center lifeguards: Must have an approved and current nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, as well as basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training. For coastal lifeguards: In addition to the above, must also have surf rescue techniques training. Must have experience which provides a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules and procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
Education

Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs IS NOT authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
