Full job description

  • The purpose of this classification is to work with Day Camp Supervisors to assist in the supervision of groups of children from activity to activity during the duration of the camp program.

  • The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assist in the daily operations of the camp program; Assist in the preparation of activity areas; Assist in the implementing of camp activities; Assist in maintaining materials, equipment, and building.

  • Demonstrate imagination and resourcefulness in working with camp staff and children; Attend camp staff meetings; Report injuries to the Camp Supervisor; Assist Camp Supervisor in schedule of activities.

  • Maintain a safe work environment; Keep facilities clean; Resolve minor differences between children; Report any serious discipline problems to the Camp Supervisor; Keep equipment in a safe and operational condition.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age; High school diploma or GED is required; supplemented by experience in programming and supervising activities for children ages 5 – 12 or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

  • Specific License or Certification Required: Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license; First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

  • Specific Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Must be nurturing, organized, creative and resourceful and be able to effectively communicate with young children, parents, and staff, and be a role model for children. Must possess the knowledge and skill to apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth.
