Description

Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Spring Co-Op to join our Cardiovascular-Renal Metabolic Diseases Research department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As an Co-Op, you will work with cell differentiation protocols and functional assays to evaluate novel therapeutic concepts. You will be responsible for expanding this department’s immune cell related assay toolbox, applying those new methods to test novel hypotheses about disease pathomechanisms.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Complete a research project focused on developing B cell and iPSC cell differentiation protocols along with functional assays to validate novel therapeutic concepts. To perform this duty, you will need to:

  • Forecast and adhere to realistic timelines and goals.

  • Understand how your studies support departmental goals.

  • Plan and execute experiments and analyze the resulting data.

  • Maintain detailed lab notebooks.

  • Produce working protocols for others to continue using after your Co-Op period concludes.

  • Integrate within the Cardiovascular-Renal Metabolic Diseases Research department and identify collaborators who will benefit from your new techniques. Begin collaborations wherein you generate data useful to their projects.

  • Communicate your work in lab, group, and departmental presentations.

Requirements

  • Must be a current graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.

  • Student must be enrolled at an accredited college or university for the duration of the co-op.

  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.

  • Major or minor in related field of co-op.

  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.

  • Cell line, Primary and iPSC cell culture, aseptic technique

  • Basic knowledge of immune cell biology (B cells and macrophages)

  • Basic knowledge of data analysis

  • Experience in conducting small research projects

  • Experience with flow cytometry and immunoassays is preferred

Eligibility Requirements :

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Compensation Data

This position offers an hourly rate of $24.00 - $33.00 USD / hour commensurate with the level of degree program in which an applicant is actively enrolled. We continuously review market data and may adjust salary ranges as needed in the future.
