The Engine Builder I - Aviation assembles and builds sub-assemblies, as well as engines; designed, manufactured, or serviced by Roush specifically for the Aviation industry. The role will be responsible for overhauling and repairing engines. The Engine Builder I - Aviation will keep detailed records of component data.

This position is located in Livonia, MI.

An Engine Builder I - Aviation will be responsible for:

  • Assembling and building any type of engines by following industry standard assembly techniques

  • Measuring components to close tolerances

  • Setting and verifying part clearances

  • Using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, or micrometers

  • Using required hand tools

  • Maintaining engine build record keeping with component history data

A successful Engine Builder I - Aviation will have:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 year of engine build or mechanic experience

  • Ability to operate typical shop equipment (hoists, jacks, hand tools, etc.)

  • Ability to diagnose engine mechanical issues

  • Must have basic computer skills and excellent organizational skills

  • Must be flexible and eager to learn

  • Must pay strong attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

A successful Engine Builder I - Aviation may also have:

  • Associate degree or post high school education in an aviation related field

  • FAA Airframe and/or Powerplant Certificate

  • Ability to complete engine teardown/build skills

  • Able to perform simple fabrications

  • Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends
