JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities to support production objectives. This role provides leadership and technical guidance to the maintenance team while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The Maintenance Manager oversees preventive and corrective maintenance programs, manages facility and equipment performance, and prioritizes maintenance activities to maximize uptime and operational efficiency. Working closely with plant leadership, this position drives equipment reliability, supports capital and improvement initiatives, and ensures resources are effectively utilized to meet business goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works closely to communicate with the operational leaders in the plant and senior leadership team

  • Provide direct supervision, technical direction, administrative management, and leadership in maintenance for the department.

  • Responsible for the management of equipment and maintenance.

  • Supports maintenance and capital program maximizing asset reliability, uptime, and cost effectiveness with available resources.

  • Provides support for the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs.

  • Supports and oversees predictive, preventative and corrective maintenance programs.

  • Uses other maintenance disciplines in the development and application of reliability engineering, root-cause analysis and troubleshooting of equipment and processes.

  • Responsible for the oversight of the maintenance team to include a maintenance supervisor

  • Coaches and develops training plans for hourly maintenance employees.

  • Contractor relations – Fabricators, HVAC, Machine Shop, Roofing, Gearboxes, OEM relations.

  • Oversee and manage the storeroom.

  • Provides long-range planning for the facility and equipment needs including capital and major repairs.

Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.

  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.

  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.

  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).

  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • 5-10 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS); experience with Maintenance Connection and SAP preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of maintenance planning and scheduling, including work order management, preventive, predictive, and precision maintenance programs.

  • Experience with predictive maintenance technologies and root cause analysis.

  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for improvement and implement process, reliability, and operational enhancements.

  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively engage employees and collaborate across all levels of the organization.

  • Expert knowledge of equipment reliability, maintenance planning and scheduling, process controls, and troubleshooting.

  • Working knowledge of project management, industrial engineering, cost analysis, and employee relations.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment and operational issues.

  • Ability to manage vendor relationships and effectively coordinate external resources to support maintenance and facility needs.

  • Commitment to fostering a safe, collaborative, and engaged work environment while building strong partnerships across the plant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing maintenance storeroom operations or inventory control processes.

  • Combined mechanical and electrical maintenance experience.

  • Experience driving a strong safety culture and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Proven ability to build employee engagement and foster a collaborative, approachable team environment.

  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to align maintenance objectives with overall plant performance goals.

  • Track record of leading cultural change, improving operational effectiveness, and promoting diversity of thought within a manufacturing environment.
