JOB SUMMARY: Classified substitutes work in various classified positions on a temporary, as-needed basis. There is no set number of hours or days guaranteed as a substitute. Substitutes must actively substitute to remain on the substitute list.

2025-2026 ADAMS 12 CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTE PAY RATES Classified Substitute AssignmentHourly Pay Rate Paraeducator, Special Programs (Special Needs)$21.34 Paraeducator, Special Education Instruction$20.31 Paraeducator, Classroom Assistant$18.40 Student Monitor (Lunchroom/Recess)$18.40 Campus Security/Operations$21.87 Office Work (depends upon the assignment)
Classified substitutes primarily cover Paraprofessionals for Special Education and Special Programs. We also offer substitutes for the following classified jobs: Campus Security, Student Monitor, Media Clerk, Paraprofessionals for Classrooms and Preschool. Pay varies by position. Classified Substitute is a great opportunity to work with our students, directed by teachers. - This position does not require a Colorado Department of Education teaching or substitute license.
- Substitutes cannot be hired as both a Certified Substitute Teacher AND Classified Substitute Paraprofessional.
